Medical Billing Specialist

We are looking to add a part-time Medical Billing Specialist to the Business Management team! This role is responsible for ensuring clients have the correct and most beneficial coverage and ensuring medical bills are accurate. Strong communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality are imperative. In this role, you will work directly with our clients and their doctor offices, hospitals, other medical service providers, life and health insurance agents/brokers, health insurance companies, etc. as well as perform claim audits and ensure all submissions to the insurance company are accurate. Candidates must also be familiar with health insurance plans, enrollment, claims processes, EOB's, etc.

Our Business Management team serves studio executives, writers, producers, directors, actors, musicians, athletes, high-net-worth individuals, and others who desire to focus on their passions and insist that their business matters receive the same level of attention and expertise.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Sort and scan EOBs, claims, documentation, receipts, etc. from insurance carriers and clients
Match EOBs with insurance company claim forms and invoices to ensure accurate processing
Match medical insurance client ledgers to make sure reimbursements are received
Interact with patient, insurance providers and clients in a professional, knowledgeable manner regarding any questions about services provided, claims, documentation, receipts, etc.
Process all medical insurance billing on behalf of designated clients
Maintain client records and follow up when necessary to change or renew plans
Be a resource to clients by providing an explanation of their benefits when necessary
Research medical insurance and get quotes on behalf of clients
Facilitate medical claims for all clients
Create email accounts for clients and assist them in getting signed up for medical insurance
Assist clients with questions and pre-authorizations
Perform various administrative duties as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma is required, Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
4 years of related experience is required
Prior experience working with medical insurance companies, and familiar with health insurance plans, enrollment, claims, EOBs, is preferred
Experience working with clients and their doctors offices, hospitals, other medical service providers, life and health insurance agents/brokers, health insurance companies, etc. is preferred
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Ability to use independent judgement and make appropriate insurance claims adjustment decisions and determinations.
Ability to document work in progress.
Conflict resolution and/or mediation skills.
Knowledge of data management systems and processes.
Knowledge and understanding of the principle and procedures for the investigation and processing of casualty/liability/workers compensation insurance claims.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

We are required employers to disclose the pay range and benefits summary for job openings in California, Colorado, and New York. Compensation Range for this position: $20.00 - $30.00 an hour Compensation may vary based on skills, role, and location.
