Overview

Supports microbiological evaluations of over-the-counter (OTC) pharmaceuticals, personal care products, nutritional supplements, and foods by maintaining media, supplies, and equipment necessary for quality control processes and by performing lab documentation review, test data entry, and lot release of approved materials.

Responsibilities

Essential

• Preparation, ordering, and performance testing of media and reagents used in microbiological testing.
• Cleaning and maintain laboratory work areas, equipment, glassware, and instruments in conformance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP's).
• Entering and verifying lab data in lab notebooks, generating certificates of analysis, and communicating test results.
• Computer data entry and sample release using JD Edwards and RFgen programs.
• Generating reports using Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Good attention to detail is needed in all aspects of lab work, such as reading instructions, taking measurements, recording testing information, entering results into computer databases, documenting deviations, and tracking sample status.

• Coordinates the Certificate of Analysis receipt and recording from vendors.
• Maintains the laboratory in a clean, working condition.
• Performs preventative maintenance and calibration of instruments and equipment as specified.
• Stocks the laboratory with chemical reagents and supplies needed to perform testing.
• Performs testing according to procedures on bulk batches, ingredients, and finished goods.
• Maintains accurate records of all testing, calibrations, etc. conducted.

Qualifications

Essential

• High school education or equivalent.
• Skilled with computer usage and office software (MS Windows, word processing, and spreadsheets).
• Ability to work under stress on multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
• Good math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide, analyze, etc.).
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team with professionalism.
• Sit or stand with intermittent walking for duration of shift.
• Manual dexterity for such duties as collating, sorting, filing, typing, writing, etc.
• Visually read reports, computer screens, packaging labels, lot numbers, etc.
• Ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities with efficiency and accuracy.

• Ability to climb stairs.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 40 lbs.
