Job Summary

The Men’s Basketball Director of Operations is responsible for the day-to-day logistics and communication of the men’s basketball team. The Director of Operations works to ensure there is a seamless flow in travel, practice, equipment, and game day operations. This role is also mandated to adhere to all department and university policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws, and interpretations of the NCAA.

Duties/Expectations:

  • Provides administrative assistance to the Head Coach and three assistant coaches
  • Ensures consistent, accurate correspondence among staff and players
  • Schedules facilities for practices and games for both BYU and visiting teams
  • Organizes various team banquets for players and their families
  • Coordinates all aspects of team travel including scheduling, itineraries, pre-departure checklists, and staff/player personal identification
  • Provides recruiting support including coordinating mailings, organizing official recruit visits, and educating prospective players/families about BYU and the Honor Code.
    • Must be knowledgeable of NCAA rules and regulations relating to all aspects of recruiting.
  • Works closely with the Student-Athlete Academic Center and the athletes’ Academic Advisors to help players excel academically, athletically, and socially
  • Serves as the basketball liaison with Sports Information and Marketing to ensure the needs of the basketball program are being met
  • Organizes golf tournaments, summer camps, service projects, and any other public appearances on behalf of the coaches and team
  • Supervises office staff

What Qualifies You to Apply?

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Must have required degree by start date)
  • Experience with Division I collegiate or professional athletic playing/work experience

Preferred:

  • Five years of Division 1 or professional football playing or job experience
  • Supervisory experience
