Metallurgical Engineering Intern

Job Position Summary:

The SKF Ring & Seal Metallurgical Engineering Internship/Co-op program is organized to involve the individuals in the testing and quality assurance of high-performance materials. The individual will apply as well as learn new skills to perform material testing and analyzing results. The individual will also gain knowledge and experience working with aerospace and industry standards, such as AMS and ASTM.

Selected applicants will work with the materials lab for the duration of the internship. Mentors will assign tasks, provide guidance, and review progress. This position is ideal for students in their freshman year and above.

Co-op duration to be approximately 15 weeks. Co-op to start August 14 ends November 24, 2023.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with mentor and train on following laboratory operating procedures.
  • Support in operation of variety of mechanical, physical, chemical, and metallographic testing.

Job Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

  • Attending a four-year institution for engineering or science.
  • GPA of 3.0 preferred.
  • Experience with metallurgical lab equipment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Experience with hand tools and safety equipment preferred.
  • US citizenship
