Overview 

Methods+Mastery, a FleishmanHillard company, has an immediate opening for an energetic, self-starting Consumer Public Relations Fellow within our Alfred Fleishman Diversity Fellowship program. Our new Consumer Public Relations Fellow will have the opportunity to work alongside Methods+Mastery’s fast-growing PR & Communications team servicing our Fortune 50 clients. Positions are available in Texas, California, Maryland, Virginia, Illinois, Missouri, Massachusetts, New York and Washington, D.C. This position offers the opportunity for a hybrid set-up with work from home and work from office flexibility.

Alfred Fleishman, one of our agency's founders, was dedicated to fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion. He was instrumental in bringing underrepresented groups together for dialogue and community. In his honor, FleishmanHillard offers the Alfred Fleishman Diversity Fellowship program.

The Alfred Fleishman Diversity Fellowship is an industry-leading program that offers the opportunity for individuals to combine their communication talents with their passion for diversity and inclusion. The paid fellowships are six- to 12-months in length and offer benefits, professional development opportunities and a mentor program. Fellows contribute to client projects while rotating among account teams, gaining practical experience in the field of integrated communications from some of the industry's best counselors.

During the fellowship, individuals will have the opportunity to:

  • Actively contribute to agency diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives
  • Get paired with senior level mentors to guide them through the program
  • Receive a professional development curriculum to increase your knowledge and learn new skills
  • Prepare & share diversity objectives that will advance agency diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) initiatives

The anticipated salary range for this position is $41,600 - $45,760.

Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and geography. A range of medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and/or other benefits also are available.

The Consumer Public Relations fellowship will last six months, with an opportunity for extension beyond this.

Responsibilities

  • Assist consumer technology and consumer lifestyle companies with media relations, product launches, marketing communications initiatives.
  • Contribute to agency diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  • Support influencer campaigns; Identify brand-right influencers based on campaign objectives and desired outcomes.
  • Write, edit and proofread materials in AP style, including press releases, pitch letters, fact sheets, blog posts, website content and client correspondence.
  • Pitch story ideas to relevant media and participate in brainstorm sessions.
  • Contribute to the new business process, including research and proposal preparation.
  • Monitor, research, compile and analyze client media coverage in both online and offline channels.
  • Be involved in social media projects — from research, copywriting, community management and reporting.

Qualifications

Must-haves:

  • Recent grad (undergraduate or graduate) with the ability to work 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, and for a minimum of six months.
  • A strong career interest in communications. A background or strong interest in working with clients in the consumer technology or consumer lifestyle industry is a plus.
  • A demonstrated passion for ethnic or cultural diversity and experience advocating for DE&I in either the work, school or volunteer setting.
  • Proven writing skills, initiative, creative problem-solving skills and proficiency in social media. 
  • Two or three previous internships or equivalent experiences, at least one of which must be focused on communications, public relations, marketing or advertising.
