The Director of Intellectual Property Management will lead and oversee all aspects of intellectual property strategy, protection, and management within our organization. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive IP policies, managing IP portfolios, and ensuring compliance with global IP laws and regulations. Additionally, this role requires strategic thinking, strong leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with senior management, legal teams, research programs, andclinical departments.Oversee Portfolio• At an advanced level, oversee the organization’s IP portfolio, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets, ensuring alignment with business objectives.Develop Strategic Plan• At an advanced level, develop and execute strategic plans for the protection, management, and commercialization of intellectualproperty assets.Study IP Laws• At expert level, stay abreast of changes in IP laws and regulations globally and ensure compliance with all applicable requirements.Monitor Landscapes• At an advanced level, monitor competitive IP landscapes and market trends to anticipate challenges and opportunities for the organization.Conduct IP Audits• At an advanced level, conduct IP audits and assessments to evaluate the strength and value of existing IP assets and identify opportunities for enhancement.Review IP Terms• At expert level, provides edits and comments on IP terms in Moffitt agreements, including research and purchasing agreements.Communicate to Stakeholders• At an advanced level, provide guidance and support on IP matters to senior management and stakeholders across various departments.Builds Tools• At expert level, builds and updates standard operating procedures relating to IP protection, marketing, and licensing.Review License Forms• At expert level, reviews and comments on documents and materials related to distribution, including Revenue AllocationAgreement, Inter-Institutional Agreement, Closing Statement, and Distribution Schedule.Implement Training• At an advanced level, develop and implement training programs on IP best practices and policies for faculty and employees at all levels.Quality Assurance Review• At an advanced level, reviews and scores work product from direct reports.Manage IP Litigation• At an advanced level, manage IP litigation and disputes in collaboration with legal counsel.Minimum Experience Required• 7 years of IP management experience which includes managing or commercializing intellectualassets such as patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.• 5 years of supervisory experience.• In lieu of bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or related field of study, 9 years of IP managementexperience which includes managing or commercializing intellectual assets such as patents,trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.Minimum Skills/Specialized Training Required• Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team of professionals.• Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.• Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.• Experience in developing and executing IP strategies that drive business growth and innovation.Minimum Education:Master's Degree Life Sciences or Related Field of Study, Doctor of Jurisprudence or Medical Degree acceptable as alternative degrees.Preferred Education:Ph.D. Life Sciences or Related Field of Study
