Our Public Affairs team, part of IFF's corporate Legal, Sustainability, and Public Affairs department, seeks a junior public affairs professional for the role of Manager of Government and Public Affairs. In this role, you will report to one of IFF's Directors of Government and Public Affairs and be part of a larger team responsible for executing IFF's public affairs objectives. This role offers great opportunities for personal and professional growth.Based in the United States (with a preference for California), this remote or agile (partially remote) position will be a colleague in a global team with diverse expertise. Public Affairs works closely with IFF's business units, corporate functions, customers and external stakeholders in support of IFF business and reputational objectives.IFF is the leading technology and innovation partner for customers across a broad range of consumer products, industrial and agriculture sectors. IFF innovates, produces, and supplies products and processes that leading brands use to deliver safer, healthier and more sustainable solutions.Job Responsibilities:Monitoring and Reporting• Supporting the public affairs team by monitoring developments across issue areas: Oversee and Manage multiple sources of legislative and regulatory monitoring information on diverse issue relevant to IFF and distill information for the team to process• Working with senior team members, curate the information and ensure that internal stakeholders receive accurate and timely updates and analysis.External and Internal Advocacy and Public Affairs Communications• Supporting senior team members in synthesizing and sharing essential information for business leaders and corporate executive team.• Developing advocacy and internal communications tools under the direction of senior team members• Develop Public Affairs newsletter and policy alerts. Assist with the creation of regular internal reports, including sourcing content and writing copy.• Create attractive and engaging presentations and communications for internal and external audiencesSupporting Policy and Issues Management Analysis• Gather internal data to determine the impact of external developments on IFF priorities.• Liaising with internal business and corporate teams, maintaining a strong focus on our internal customers (colleagues) and clear accountability to meet their needs and advance team projects.Advocacy Support• Support the team in representing and advocating for IFF in industry groups in food, feed, consumer products including personal care, and industrial applications.• Provide public affairs support for business and corporate priorities, including analysis of US federal and state (e.g., California) legislative affairs and outreach to lawmakers, as needed.Job Skills and Qualifications:The successful candidate exceptional communications and collaboration skills and a commitment to growing their public affairs and advocacy expertise. As this is a remote or agile position on a global team, IFF is looking for someone who is willing to travel to IFF sites, is self-motivated, able to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders, and to "manage up" with finesse.Desired Competencies:• Strong written and verbal communications skills. Solid grammar, editing, and proofreading capabilities.• Ability to work independently and on team initiatives.• Collaborative mindset with strong inter-personal skills, including working in an international environment with colleagues from different parts of the world.• Good organizational skills, analytical and detail oriented.• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.• Positive attitude, flexibility in working across time-zones, ability to work independently and to prioritize work activities• Proactive and results oriented.• Self-motivated, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines• Proficient with Microsoft Office. Able to work with the Public Affairs team to create impactful PowerPoint presentations, internal reports, and to conduct data analysis using Excel.Academic and Professional Qualifications:• Bachelor's degree in public relations, public affairs, government relations, communications or related field.• Prefer five years' experience in advocacy, communication, government relations, or public affairs in food, chemical, biotechnology or related industries.• Experience or strong knowledge of US federal and state legislative affairs• Preference for candidates who reside in Northern California and have state level legislative, regulatory advocacy experience.At IFF, we believe that your uniqueness unleashes our potential.
