The work we do here matters.Department OverviewThe Competitive Intelligence (CI) team is responsible for tracking and understanding competitive strategies, tactics, price points, and overall CI in the markets we serve.Job DescriptionMVTRAC is seeking a Competitive Intelligence (CI) Analyst, to perform a variety of tasks related to collecting, organizing, and interpreting data. This position will be responsible for inspecting, transforming, and modeling data with a keen eye for data verification, validation, integration between core and ancillary systems, and quality control. They will play a key role in business intelligence, advanced analytics, data integration, and will be involved in numerous traditional report development projects. Coordination will be made between various departments to drive strategic and operational improvements.The CI Analyst primarily works with regional Business Capture Managers on competitive opportunities, providing project specific insight to project teams on competitors’ strengths, weaknesses and projected bid strategies and pricing. The CI analyst also provides guidance to sales management, distribution, product and business development organizations on competitive strategies.• Analyzing competitive bid strategies• Summarizing competitive information for internal work partners• Predicting competitor bid response strategies and associated pricing• Understanding and summarizing advantages and disadvantages of Motorola offerings vs. competitors• Advising business teams (Product Group, Strategy organization, etc) of competitive threats• Communicating regularly with distribution teams (Field Sales, Service, Systems Integration), Senior Leadership on competitive sales tactics, and global CI partners• Data Analysis (market share trends, competitive bidding trends, win/loss trends, etc.)Professional Responsibilities:• Writing SQL and configuring custom SQL metrics.• Modifying existing reports, as necessary.• Working with subject matter experts to understand the needs of data consumers.• Maintaining the Analytics Catalog and associated records.What you'll do to be successful:1.) Be an advocate for the use of data across the organization• Work with stakeholders from all parts of the organization to identify reporting needs and determine how to best solve those needs via data modeling, dashboards and ad hoc reports• Drive adoption of BI tools, including providing training as needed and analyzing report and dashboard usage to identify areas of low usage and proactively communicating with those teams to understand how the BI tools can better meet their needs• Identify meaningful data from a variety of sources help us run the business better and partner with other teams to feed that into the BI layer:• Partner with our data engineering team to translate business stakeholder needs into technical requirements for data collection and pipelines, including providing input on the decision making process of structuring our various data sources.2.) Ensure reporting excellence• Model raw data in our data warehouse using SQL and translate it into an output that is usable in the BI layer with an emphasis on modular code, execution speed and scalability.• Manage the BI layer including handling user access, organizing reports/dashboards, and building new reports/dashboards as needed.• Own data model standards for the team, documentation and resources• Create and refine processes to handle inbound data requests from across the organization and address these in a timely manner.Preferred Qualifications:• Strong communication skills.• Critical thinking and an analytical mind.• User focused design and data visualization skills.• Hands on experience in writing intermediate to complex SQL• Proficiency with SQL and relational database concepts.• Proficiency and demonstrated experience with analytics tools like Power BI and Tableau• Ability to understand data structures that could benefit the entire data environment.• Strong Data Engineering skills and a good understanding of common data modeling concepts• Ability to work independently• Understanding of .NET and C#• 3+ years of BI, analytics, or data science experience• Experience working closely with stakeholders from multiple teams and translating their data-related questions and needs into data modeling and dashboard requirements• Experience working with multiple messy data sources, structured and unstructured, feeding them into a BI presentation layerThis position is a remote position and candidates can be located anywhere in the US.#LI-TW1#LI-REMOTEBasic Requirements• 3+ years experience with .NET, C#, AND (SQL or MySQL).• 3+ years of experience with BI, analytics, or data science.• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required.
