The Government Affairs Manager shapes and executes federal and state government relations strategies to advance the company's objectives, leveraging relationships with Congress, federal agencies, state legislatures, and key industry groups. This role leads lobbying and advocacy efforts, evaluates legislative and regulatory impacts, and develops company positions on emerging issues. The manager also advises senior leadership on critical political developments, positioning the company as a proactive industry advocate.WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:• Estimated Salary: $97,000 - $160,000, plus annual bonus opportunity.• Benefits and Perks, 401(k) plan with a 2% company contribution and 6% company match.• Regular associates working 40 hours a week can earn up to 15 days of vacation each year.• Regular associates receive 11 paid holidays in 2024, which includes 2 floating holidays that are added to your prorated personal time to be used at your discretion.• Regular associates are provided sick leave through the use of personal time. Associates working 40 hours a week can receive up to 40 hours of personal time in 2024, which is prorated based on the start date. Additionally you will receive two floating holidays in 2024 by way of personal time that may be used at your discretion.• Applicants for this position must not now, nor at any point in the future, require sponsorship for employment.WHAT YOU'LL DO:• Develop and execute federal lobbying strategies in alignment with Mutual of Omaha's goals.• Build and maintain influential relationships with members of Congress, federal officials and industry trade associations, meeting regularly with members of Congress and their staffs as well as attending political events and industry meetings.• Represent Mutual of Omaha's positions at legislative and regulatory discussions, advocating for key policies and company objectives.• Collaborate closely with government affairs colleagues and internal leaders, including our executive team, to assess and communicate the impacts of proposed legislation, as well as developing strategies for advancing Mutual's priorities.• Travel regularly to Omaha for internal meetings and attend industry events and political functions outside of D.C.WHAT YOU'LL BRING:• A strong professional network and experience on Capitol Hill or in government affairs for the financial services/insurance industry.• A policy background in healthcare and/or insurance/financial services.• Exceptional communication, interpersonal and strategic influencing skills.• Solid experience working with stakeholders, trade associations and government officials.• Analytical acumen for assessing the impacts of proposed legislation and regulations on Mutual of Omaha's operations and products.• You promote a culture of diversity and inclusion, value different ideas and opinions, and listen courageously, remaining curious in all that you do.• Able to work remotely with access to a high-speed internet connection and located within the greater Washington DC area.We value diverse experience, skills, and passion for innovation.
