Network Engineer- Remote

Job Summary/Objective
Supports, configures, installs, maintains, monitors, upgrades, and inventories network systems and peripherals. Develops, evaluates, and maintains systems; provides technical support to various departments and users regarding network hardware and software. Serves as liaison to vendors and other third-party providers relating to network systems upgrades and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities & Duties (essential to the job)
1. Configures new network and installs various network devices, software, and services as required.
2. Plans, forecasts, and implements resource requirements for the network (including wireless) of moderate to high complexity.
3. Performs network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot-fixes and other security configurations.
4. Participates in network planning and network architecture design/engineering; evaluates new products.
5. Performs implementation and maintains Cloud network infrastructure in Azure/AWS, and reviews and/or enhances existing network security and resource groups.
6. Incorporates a variety of testing tools and techniques to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems associated with OEC’s systems hardware and software.
7. Implements necessary measures to limit system downtime and provides technical support to optimize system performance.
8. Works to repair network, and peripheral equipment; contacts vendors as appropriate to service or maintain systems when not accomplished in-house.
9. Develops and maintains best practice installation, configuration, tracking, and knowledge base methodologies and documentation, including topology diagrams.
10. Performs network problem resolution and assists in the development and documentation of technical standards; provides general ‘troubleshooting’ support through researching and resolving a variety of technical network problems.
11. Implements, automates, and uses a variety of monitoring tools and methodologies to generate network performance reports as well as alert management.

Education
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required, with a focus in Computer Science, Computer Technology, or related discipline. In the absence of a degree, equivalent work experience directly related to the key responsibilities of the role will be considered as a substitute for the degree.

Experience, Skills and Key Competencies
At least 6 years of experience working with network protocols, and operating systems and environments, including DHCP, DNS, routing, and load balancing, plus a background in setting up and maintaining BGP, LAN/WAN and MPLS connections, Cisco Nexus switches, Meraki Wireless andAccess Points, Azure and AWS Cloud network infrastructure, Cisco ASA & FTD security appliances, and F5 Load Balancers.

Must also be able to demonstrate the following skills and abilities:

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within and across internal teams as well as with third-party vendors on network architecture.
• Ability to use principles of analytical thinking to conduct research, identify and troubleshoot problems, resolve client issues, and analyze and implement software patches and/or hardware changes to correct network deficiencies.
• Able to effectively and accurately create documentation and diagraming of projects and network.
• Can work well both independently to support infrastructure/network environments, and as part of a diverse team regarding network design, implementation, and support.

Special Position Requirements

• CCNA and Azure Cloud certification required (or can substitute with 5+ years of experience in Cisco and 3+ years of hands-on experience in Cloud).
