Segment Producer - Weekend AM

WEEKEND AM SEGMENT PRODUCER:

 KTLA is looking for a dynamic Segment Producer for L.A.’s #1 rated Weekend Morning Newscast. Candidate must be able to work under pressure and hit various deadlines. This person also needs to be up on current events;  be flexible in an ever-changing news environment and have strong personable skills in dealing with guests.   The ideal candidate will also be expected to pitch segment ideas and participate in meetings with the weekend morning team.    

 DUTIES:  

 Responsibilities include conceptualizing, booking, writing & producing weekly live news segments, from hard news guests to community events and fun feature segments.

This producer will be the face of our Weekend Morning News to outside guests and clients, and will need to maintain positive continued relationships. Current working relationships with publicists and PR strongly preferred.

Producer will post segments on ktla.com after air and also contribute and help maintain our show's social media (IG, X, Threads, Bluesky, Tiktok).

We’re also looking for someone who can be creative in developing and producing live in-studio segments on many subjects, as well as live feature segments in the field, and be flexible in breaking news situations and when things inevitably change.

Detail oriented person who can fact check, write unbiasedly, and maintain segment & show paperwork accordingly.

  

QUALIFICATIONS:

*Must be able to work weekend mornings

 *Strong writing and editing skills

*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

*Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple assignments on a regular basis

*Must be capable of interacting positively and productively with other employees   

 *College degree or equivalent related experience preferred. Prefer minimum 3 years of experience producing a newscast at a commercial television station in medium to large market.

*Prior experience with Adobe Premiere and ENPS a plus

 *Compensation - $33.50/hour+
