Data Governance Manager

Job Description

The Data Strategy and Solution (DSS) team owns the research, creation, and maintenance of all 27,000+ distinct Label Insight attributes. This team is composed of industry experts including dietitians, food scientists, chemists, regulatory and product formulation experts. The DSS team is responsible for the quality and maintenance of our proprietary taxonomies: claims, certifications, ingredients, nutrients, and categories that are the foundation of all Label Insight data. The DSS Global Data Governance Manager is responsible for all activity and the overall global data quality strategy and success of the DSS team. This role is skilled at establishing excellent workflows and processes geared towards improving global data quality as well as leveraging automation to build trust in NIQ & LI data utilized for attribution in global solutions.

 

Responsibilities

● Hire and manage a team of data quality specialists.

● Develop and implement global data management policies, procedures, and accompanying documentation to optimize data quality, improve efficiency, leverage automation, and change management.

● Ensure the quality, lineage, and metadata of multi-region data are maintained, and develop data governance systems.

● Create technical and strategic roadmaps based on prioritization of company goals, client deliverables, and product department roadmaps.

● Embody strong leadership by inspiring and motivating while leading a team of operation analysts and delegating tasks.

● Identify, support, and help prioritize data and product solution gaps to make recommendations and identify opportunities for innovation.

● Collaborate with other departments including Product, Data Science, and Engineering to identify data needs and ensure that data solutions align with business objectives.

● Expected to learn BI and data querying tools basic rule-based languages along with mastery of internal NIQ tools and databases.

 

Qualifications

● A bachelor's degree or higher; master's degree in data analytics or similar is a plus

● 5+ years of experience in data management or a related area.

● 2+ years of experience in a leadership or management role, demonstrating the ability to lead and manage a team

● Strong team and project management skills

● Ability to communicate complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders

● Speaks authoritatively to feasibility of solutions, hurdles, and voice's opinion to reject projects altogether based on logic, limitations, and/or roadmap when appropriate

● Experience making data-driven decisions, highlighting associated risks, and gaining stakeholder alignment.

● You may be asked to undertake additional duties to those above, either on a temporary or permanent basis, which the Company reasonably believes you are capable of carrying out, or for which you will be trained.

● Relevant professional, ethical and health and safety standards apply to this role

● Occasionally you will be required to travel nationally and internationally
