Non-Injury Unit Manager

Branch's Claims Team

Our Claims team is our member's best friend on their worst day. Our energetic team works to resolve claims as quickly as possible with empathy and a commitment to ensuring compliance throughout Branch's resolution process. We're building a technology-first and data-driven claims experience to enhance client experience while eliminating traditional claims inefficiencies.

About the Unit Manager - Auto Physical Damage role

The Unit Manager - Auto Physical Damage position reports to the Senior Auto Claims Director. This person is responsible for leading and developing Auto Physical Damage Unit Leaders and their respective teams ensuring optimal claims outcomes and a high level of customer care.

Branch is remote native, so this position may be located anywhere in the U.S. (although Ohio and Arizona are strongly preferred) with occasional travel to Columbus, OH (HQ).

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute on claims strategies to achieve claims quality, customer service and operational objectives
  • Create an environment to provide opportunities for your direct reports to reach their full potential.
  • Responsible for growth and technical development of Unit Leaders and achieving optimal results
  • Provide technical direction and training on coverage analysis, investigation, damage assessment, and other relevant claim functions.
  • Provide training on current and new processes when needed
  • Lead CAT initiatives for the Auto claims department
  • Well-versed in industry trends as it relates to auto physical damage
  • Support the strategy and operations of Branch claims
  • Assists in industry analysis and benchmarking studies
  • Give consistent and meaningful feedback to your team to support their development
  • Work within broad limits and authority on complex assignments requiring specialized knowledge in breadth and/or depth in area of expertise
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

  • Superior people management skills and a creative problem-solver who can react to market changes, handle day-to-day issues and lead special projects when needed.
  • Experience leading teams, informally or formally.
  • A track record of developing front-line claims leaders.
  • Ability to understand departmental opportunities through a variety of resources and create meaningful strategies to improve.
  • Five or more years of claims leadership experience with significant personal lines experience.
  • Experience handling litigated claims
  • Broad knowledge of claims process.
  • Proficient using the Microsoft Office suite of programs with an emphasis on Word and Excel.
  • Ability to travel when needed.
  • Four-year college degree or equivalent experience.
  • Insurance designation (AIC, SCLA, CPCU, etc.) is a plus.
  • Creative, out of the box thinker who refuses to accept the status quo.
  • Ability to “Call the Play” with imperfect information.
  • Experience leading remote teams
  • Ability to work independently
  • Instinctually identify opportunities and create data-supported solutions
  • Licensed claims adjuster with multi-state experience

Pay: $100,000.00 per year
