Summary:
To provides nursing care to a patient or group of patients under the direction and supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse.
Sunday-Saturday. 8 hour shifts x3 per week. 0700-1500, 1100-1900, 1500-2300
Responsibilities:
1. Patient Care Criteria A: Provides patient care as directed by the Registered Nurse. Prioritizes assignments in consultation with the RN. Patient Care Criteria B: Performs procedures as identified by the Skills Checklist ie, splinting, EKGs and woundcare. Refers to and utilizes appropriate resources. Responds promptly to patient care needs. Patient Care Criteria C: Maintains a safe patient environment incorporating Norwalk Hospital Policies and Procedures. Patient Care Criteria D: Self directed, offers assistance with unit needs, and cover other team members as needed.
2. Communication Criteria A: Communicates with patients, visitors and coworkers within the scope of his/her responsibilities in a courteous manner. Communication Criteria B: Observes and reports to Registered Nurse all changes in patient condition, observations or occurrences of an unusual nature in a clear and concise manner. Communication Criteria C: Documents accurately patient data on appropriate forms i.e., ED Flow Sheet. Communication Criteria D: Obtains information necessary to carry out patient care assignment, for example: report and/or active order profile sheets.
3. Occupational and Personal Responsibilities Criteria A: Demonstrates compliance with identified policies and procedures in carrying out unit assignments i.e., stocking, equipment maintance. Follows mini-protocols. Maintains computer skills ie, Eclipys and Cerner, enters orders/patient charges and Emerge data. Occupational and Personal Responsibilities Criteria B: Demonstrates willingness to assist with and improve unit operations. Occupational and Personal Responsibilities Criteria C: Maintains neat and orderly appearance and environment. Occupational and Personal Responsibilities Criteria D: Completes all competencies and annual requirements as established by the ED Management team, ie, EKGs, Point of Care Testing, restraints/Code Green and utilizes awarness of Least Restrivtive Measures. Maintains personal Educational Record.
4. Equipment and Supplies Criteria A: Utilizes supplies and equipment in a cost efficient and proper manner ie., stocking and maintance of equipment. Equipment and Supplies Criteria B: Reports problems with supplies and equipment to appropriate personnel for corrective action. Equipment and Supplies Criteria C: Maintains supplies as per established par levels in the ED and Express CAre.
5. Performs other duties as assigned.
6. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
Education: HS GRAD/EQUIVALENT

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent and is a Nursing Assistant or an EMT in the State of Connecticut.
