FTC is looking for an Occupational Therapy Lead who has completed a master’s or doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from a program approved by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE), successfully completed the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) exam and is licensed by the New Jersey Board of Occupational Therapy Practice. Our ideal candidate would also have a minimum of 2 years of experience supervising and leading a team of occupational therapists and support staff while developing and managing occupational therapy programs.

Job Description:
The Occupational Therapy Lead who joins FTC Kids Empowerment Center in Little Falls, New Jersey will lead and supervise a team of occupational therapists and support staff. Their responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, providing guidance and mentorship to the team, developing, and managing occupational therapy programs, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and promoting a positive work culture. Additional job responsibilities are detailed below.

Responsibilities:

  • Overall manager of the Occupational Therapy Team, and as such enforce and comply with all organizational policies and procedures among team members.
  • Propose development of policies and procedures that would further expand on organizational policies and procedures with the intent to improve the Occupational Therapy team.
  • Develop, communicate, and maintain current Occupational Therapy team performance measures in alignment with organizational goals and objectives
  • Develop team member performance plans aligned with organizational mission, vision, values, goals, and objectives
  • Participate in the new hire screening and the hiring selection process.
  • Providing assistance, guidance, and coaching support as needed to assigned team members
  • Providing fair, constructive, and timely feedback towards performance expectations
  • Develop and maintain updated team members in-office and telework schedule
  • Manage schedules and deadlines
  • Keep abreast with all organizational changes and business developments
  • Provide monthly status updates to the FTC Kids Leadership Team
  • Provide support/supervision to new clinicians for 90 days - including using the EMR system, reviewing necessary documentation, reviewing treatment strategies, home exercise programs, assisting in conducting standardized testing.
  • Assist administrative office with reviewing necessary insurance documents to prepare for peer-to-peer reviews/denials.
  • Conduct gym safety training for new members.
  • Mentor OT/COTA students and supervise COTAs.
  • Check-In with parents either via phone or in person - discuss plan of care of client, answer any specific questions, ask parent if they have noted progress/regression since start of therapy
  • Assessing flow of gym space (when there are too many kids, if a child should be seen during an earlier time, if equipment is set up safely)
  • Evaluating and speaking with Parents If a client would benefit from additional services.
  • Assisting new hires/grads in executing the discharge process, informing therapists on how to communicate with parents in regards to getting a DX, receiving additional diagnostic testing.
  • Assist in finding which therapist would best fit a new client.
  • Keeping the therapists’ schedules in balance (too many back-to sessions, not enough documentation time, variety of diagnoses, dispersing evaluation sessions)
  • Guiding clinicians/parents on SSP (frequency, duration, how to download program)
  • Demonstrating professional conduct and adhering to the code of ethics for occupational therapy.


Qualifications:
Education
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy

Licensure

  • Current State License in good standing as an Occupational Therapist
  • Current Driver’s License.


Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years professional experience as a licensed Therapist
  • Minimum of 2 years pediatric experience
  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical interview experience


Skills

  • Clinical expertise in discipline and able to mentor others
  • Current BLS/CPR accredited by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Good interpersonal skills and high level of integrity
  • Team builder and Team player
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
