PURPOSE OF ANNOUNCMENT

The Workers’ Compensation Board has one full time Office Associate II position available in its Augusta Central Office located at 442 Civic Center Drive.


JOB DESCRIPTION

This position requires direct contact with members of the public and other agencies in person and by phone. The position also performs routine, varied office support tasks often requiring the operation of technical office equipment as well as knowledge of Microsoft applications.


TYPICAL DUTIES

  • Shares duties as receptionist for the Augusta Central office
  • Occasionally greets and directs members of the public in person and by phone to determine individual needs.
  • Refers non-routine phone inquiries to appropriate resources.
  • Shares duties of opening, distributing and handling mail for the entire Augusta Central office
  • Creates spreadsheets and performs data management.
  • Types varied business correspondence such as letters, reports and orders.
  • Organizes records and maintains computerized and manual files.
  • Operates technical office equipment.
  • Compiles address information for large mailings and creates mail merge documents.
  • Examines/proofreads documents to detect errors and irregularities
  • Maintains inventory and supplies for the office.
  • Invoices, collects, and inputs payments in accordance with set procedures.
  • Create packing lists and transmittal forms for records management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a solid knowledge of modern office practices to perform complex, varied office support tasks, and 2) the ability to use independent decision-making on the appropriate processes to follow, information to process, and actions to take in accordance with standard procedures. All positions in this classification assume the qualifications of: Office Assistant I, Office Assistant II, and Office Associate I. *Preference will be given to candidates with strong Microsoft Excel, Word, and varied computer skills.

  • Gym Membership Reimbursement – Improve overall health with regular exercise and receive up to $40 per month to offset this expense.
  • Health and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts – Set aside money pre-tax to help pay for out-of-pocket health care expenses and/or daycare expenses.
