1. About us

Onebrief is building the future of military decisions. Our product is built for operational planning across the US and our allies and is currently in broad use at 8 of the largest military headquarters in the world. 3 of the 4 biggest operational plans in the US are currently built with Onebrief.

We’ve raised $44.6M in Venture Capital from top tier venture investors, including Human Capital, Caffeinated Capital, and Y Combinator. We are currently a Series B company and aspire to IPO in a few years.

We’re a rapidly growing team of 65. We’re spread worldwide, across Korea, Hawaii, the continental US, the UK, Germany, and Italy. This year, we plan to build a presence in Australia, Japan, and the Middle East.

Users love our product. They make statements like, “I will never plan again without Onebrief.” We grew usage 4x in 3 months. Last year, we achieved 100% gross retention and 158% net retention. Last year, our revenue grew 4x and reached double-digit millions. We anticipate similarly rapid growth this year.

Onebrief will become the single collaborative planning solution – from the Battalion level up to the Joint Staff, for the US and our allies around the world.

2. About you

  • You have a proven track record as a marketing leader. You’ve driven the growth of a large, complex, high-value solution. You can talk about your KPIs from past work and the decisions and tactics that helped you achieve them

  • You can own the full spectrum of marketing, from strategic to hands-on. You need to arrive with a vision and execute with your sleeves rolled up

  • You already understand our audiences. Here are our two most important audiences. You should have pre-existing experience and a deep understanding of each of them.

    • Top-tier staff officers at operational headquarters. These are generally O-4 (Major/LCDR) through O-6 (Colonel/CAPT). They’re are power users, social influencers, and champions. Many sales and post-sale implementations are driven exclusively by one of them. These individuals are smart workhorses, and they’re heavily relied on across the command. When they like a product, the rest of the staff follows. These are sophisticated and discerning users, whose trust we must continuously earn.

    • GOFO’s, SES’s, and GS-15’s who are involved in the purchase decision at large operational headquarters (division through Combatant Command) and at the service headquarters in the Pentagon. The Commander and Chief of Staff are particularly important to us Most customers buy Onebrief with O&M funds, so PEO’s and the RDT&E enterprise are less of a focus here. They still matter, but they’re not your main audience.

    • It’s ok if you don’t arrive with a similarly deep understanding of their international counterparts. We can assist you with the international markets.

  • You can own a clear brand vision that’s consistent with our company goals. Here’s what we want our audience to understand

    1. Fixing military decisions will give meaning and purpose to your (the customer’s) military service

    2. With Onebrief, you (the customer) can “fix” your operational headquarters. You will fix the frustrating staff problems that plague your day-to-day. You (the customer) are the hero of this story

    3. Onebrief is the most elite and prestigious defense startup in the world. Being associated with Onebrief means that you’re smart/determined/a high-status officer

    4. Onebrief is the solution to DoD’s existing technology goals. We’re nested with what senior military leaders and the civil service are already looking for

  • You’re well-connected in the creative community. You have a deep bench of creative contacts from agencies, vendors & freelancers, who could help you prepare a campaign in many kinds of media — LinkedIn, industry publications, video, events, billboards, etc

  • You’re intense about our mission. It’s a core part of who you are

  • You’re ambitious. We’re getting bigger. You should too

3. About the job

You’ll own the entire marketing function at Onebrief. This year, here’s what you should strive accomplish (in priority order):

  1. Speed up our largest deals by helping GOFOs, SES’s, and GS-15’s get confident in $10M - $30M bets on Onebrief

  2. Drive user adoption by getting the most valuable staff officers to see themselves as “part of Onebrief”

  3. Create inbound leads for our smaller unit level sales. Note that lead generation is not your most important responsibility: more leads are always good, but we’re pretty healthy here already

  4. Preempt unfavorable narratives from the primes, incumbents, and others

In the long term, you’ll build Onebrief into an iconic brand, so that every military headquarters worldwide entrusts their entire workflow to our products
