Pacific Environment is campaigning to end fossil fuel use, including to get ships off fossil fuels. Our strategies include creating strong regulatory frameworks to achieve zero-emission shipping on a timeline commensurate with the climate emergency; mobilizing consumers to apply pressure on corporations by demanding zero-emission ships and; and influencing ports on the Pacific Northwest Coast and beyond to end fossil fuel build-out and ready themselves for zero-emission shipping instead.

Position


The Communications Manager, Creative, is a part of the Communications Team at Pacific Environment and will execute communication strategies and design digital and print content for Pacific Environment and its campaigns on climate, plastic production and pollution, ocean conservation and protecting the Arctic. You will design and produce engaging and motivating digital materials (social media and website copy and graphics; e-newsletters; creative content for paid print, digital and out-of-home advertising; report and flyer design; event materials and branded giveaway items such as e.g., T-shirts, signage, brochures; and more) for Pacific Environment and its campaigns.

 

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrable track record of utilizing a variety of communications tools to advance advocacy campaigns that prioritize environmental justice and equity.

 

The Communications Manager, Creative, will report to the Senior Director of Communications.

   


Location and Travel


This position is 100% remote, with a preference for U.S.-based candidates. The position may involve some domestic and international travel. Occasional late evening and early morning videoconferencing to accommodate Asia-based staff may be required.   


Key Qualifications
  • Five (5) or more years of relevant experience in digital communications work, with increasing responsibility and achievement
  • A record of producing compelling visual content, including graphics, video and multimedia that influence public opinion and inspire action
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Experience engaging supporters and collaborating with partners and coalitions
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere, or similar multimedia programs
  • Highly organized and able to manage and deliver on multiple projects simultaneously without sacrificing quality
  • Experience with WordPress and Every Action a plus
  • Commitment to the values of Pacific Environment required


$80,000 - $90,000 a year

Compensation and Benefits

Pacific Environment provides compensation commensurate with experience and equitable with others on our team, plus medical, dental, vision and life benefits. Each employee starts with a generous amount of PTO, and a 36-hour workweek marked by half-day Fridays. The holiday schedule includes a company-wide closure during the last week of the year. The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $90,000, which is carefully considered to account for equity. The employee will enjoy a flexible working environment with a dedicated, diverse group of colleagues.
