Packback is a pedagogy partner that uses technology as a “means to an end” to shorten feedback loops for students and instructors, improve writing and critical thinking skills, and cultivate student-centered, trust-based educational learning environments.


Who we are


Packback team members are passionate, mission-driven lifelong learners. Many of us spent time as educators in classrooms and have experienced first hand just how draining the day to day of educating can be. We have seen the gap between the most and least prepared students grow wider every year. The pressure to close that gap has once rested directly on our shoulders, and we understand the enormous cost of addressing that gap, and also not addressing that gap.


Some of us were intrinsically motivated students, the “teacher’s pets” who never want to stop learning. Some of us were the distracted or unmotivated students who wished their instructors would have adopted the pedagogy behind Packback. But all of us share a passionate commitment to our purpose.


About the role


The Account Manager will play a pivotal role in expanding the usage and adoption of our ed-tech platform in academic settings. This individual will work on our Direct to Professor team and partner with the Experience Managers (EMs) on our Customer Success team to drive increased adoption from our current and past users by selling Packback into new courses and selling our full platform suite to our current users. The role involves strategizing and closing upsell and cross-sell opportunities, facilitating product demos, and nurturing academic partnerships for sustained growth and referrals.


What you'll do


  • Strategize and close upsell and cross-sell opportunities to encourage instructors to use Packback in all courses they teach
  • Collaborate with Experience Managers to identify opportunities for platform expansion within existing educational institutions
  • Join instructor calls alongside Experience Managers to help maximize future instructor usage
  • Conduct product demos and presentations to faculty, focusing on the added value and benefits of an expanded feature set
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase the adoption of the platform in new courses
  • Gather feedback from faculty and contribute to the continuous improvement of the platform
  • Work closely with the sales team to generate leads and referrals for new business opportunities


Qualifications


  • Proven experience in sales, especially in educational technology in the publisher space
  • You've historically hit quota through mostly upsells and cross-sells with a current user base
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to understand and articulate the technical aspects of a software platform
  • Experience in building and maintaining relationships in an academic setting
  • Superb collaboration and internal communication skills
  • High degree of flexibility and comfort with ambiguity
  • Bachelor's degree or time and experience in higher education preferred


Additional Information


  • Salary Range: The base salary for the role is $70,000-$80,000 annually with a $50,000 annual variable target
  • Currently we are only able to hire from these states: AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KY, MD, MI, NC, NY, OH, PA, RI, SC, TX, VA, WA, WI 
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S without the need for sponsorship. Packback does not offer visa sponsorship for this role.
