Painter
Position Summary:
Paints exterior/interior walls, buildings, and other surfaces, using brushes, rollers, and spray guns. May remove old paint to prepare surface prior to painting. May mix colors or oils to obtain desired color or consistency.
Essential Duties:
Prepares surfaces, fill cracks, holes, or joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives.
Protects surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper during painting.
Smooth surfaces, using sandpaper, scrapers, brushes, steel wool, or sanding machines.
Reads work orders or receive instructions from supervisors.
Works from ladders, scaffolds, swinging stage, and window ladders.
Paints lines in district parking lots.
Operates power washer to remove graffiti from district buildings, structures, sidewalks, parking lots, etc.
Ensures compliance of OSHA and district standards, policies, and procedures.
Drives to and from sites perform duties of the position during the workday.
Performs daily preventive equipment maintenance on all equipment used.
Assists supervisor with inventory, ordering supplies and ensures the use of materials and equipment is consistent with established safety standards and practices.
Promotes the overall effectiveness of the organization by performing tasks and sharing responsibilities of other members of the department during peak periods, inclement weather, or when there is an overload of duties.
Communicates effectively with all OKCPS personnel, students and visitors.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Must have adequate manual dexterity to write legibly and perform required duties on the computer.
Must have adequate visual acuity to read, interpret and transcribe written material and other required duties.
Requires normal range of hearing and clear speaking abilities to interact appropriately with others in person and on the telephone.
Requires physical work, lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, work in small spaces, walk and reach overhead.
Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
Work Environment:
Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, bio hazardous materials, dirt dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises.
May periodically require work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, under sometimes stressful conditions in order to meet business needs and strict deadlines.
