Position Summary:
The Education Department at Colorado College, a selective private liberal arts institution, invites applications for a one block course visitor to teach ED 101: Introduction to K-12 Classroom Culture in the fall of 2023 from 10/23/23-11/15/23. ED 101 introduces students to the norms, values, routines, policies, and relationships that form the culture in public-school classrooms. Students complete at least 20 hours of practicum experiences & coursework explores educational theories, learning environment design and compares and contrasts instructional strategies. Practicum experiences converge with course content to examine the influence of classroom culture on student learning.

Among one of the most demographically diverse majors on campus, over 50% of our undergraduate students do not plan to become classroom teachers. Instead, they use their training to work in nonprofits, policy, research, and environmental education settings. Colorado College operates under a unique academic model called the Block Plan. Students take one course at a time for 18 days with a 4-day break between classes. There are 8 blocks in an academic year.
Minimum Qualifications: ABD in Education, Education Policy, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Psychology or similar. At least 5 years of K-12 classroom experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Earned PhD or EdD in Education, Education Policy, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Psychology, or similar. At least 5 years of K-12 classroom experience and/or school administration. Experience teaching in undergraduate higher education. Experience teaching practicum based courses.
