Associate Director of Business Intelligence and Data Strategy

 

The Associate Director of Business Intelligence and Data Strategy will lead all Business Intelligence (BI) initiatives within the organization, driving the transformation of data into actionable insights to support strategic decision-making and operational excellence.  This role is pivotal in the development and implementation of comprehensive reporting, dashboards, and a Self-Service BI environment. Reporting to the Vice President of IT, the Associate Director will play a critical role in ensuring the successful adoption of the organization’s new ERP system, Microsoft Business Central, by bridging gaps in reporting capabilities and overseeing the integration of historical and new data into a unified data warehouse.  This is a Hybrid position and will require Onsite (3 days in the office, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and Remote work in Brooklyn, NY.

 

Associate Director of Business Intelligence and Data Strategy Responsibilities:

 

Business Intelligence Leadership:

- Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for organization-wide Business Intelligence, transitioning from basic reporting to an advanced analytics framework.

- Oversee the design and implementation of customized reporting and executive dashboards to align with departmental and organizational objectives.

 

ERP and Data Integration:

- Lead the integration of historical data from the legacy ERP system (Adage) and new data from Microsoft Business Central into a data warehouse.

- Ensure comprehensive, accurate, and timely reporting capabilities for both current and historical data.

 

Self-Service BI Environment:

- Implement a Self-Service BI platform to empower departments to independently access and analyze data, reducing reliance on IT for reporting needs.

- Drive user adoption and ensure the platform meets diverse departmental needs.

 

Reporting and Automation:

- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements, automate processes, and enhance data visualization.

- Identify opportunities to reduce manual work through automation and streamline reporting workflows.

 

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:

- Partner with executives and department leaders to identify and prioritize reporting and data analysis needs.

- Facilitate training and adoption of BI tools to ensure widespread usage and alignment with strategic goals.

 

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

- Timely launch of a fully operational data warehouse within 6 months of ERP Go-Live.

- Reduction of report generation time by 50% within 3 months of implementation.

- Implementation of Phase 1 of the Self-Service BI platform within 12 months post-Go-Live, with 80% departmental adoption.

- Increased usage of executive dashboards for decision-making, evidenced by engagement metrics.

Qualifications

Associate Director of Business Intelligence and Data Strategy Qualifications:

 

- Proven experience in leading Business Intelligence and Data Strategy initiatives, including data warehouse development and BI tool implementation.

- Expertise in integrating ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Business Central, with BI platforms.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.

- Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration and drive adoption of new technologies across diverse teams.

- Excellent communication and presentation skills to engage with stakeholders at all organizational levels.

 

Associate Director of Business Intelligence and Data Strategy Preferred Qualifications:

 

- Experience migrating data from legacy ERP systems into a unified data warehouse.

- Knowledge of advanced data visualization tools and techniques.

- Familiarity with building and managing Self-Service BI environments.
