Patient Information Management Specialist (M-F, 9:30am-6pm)

General Summary of Position
This position is responsible for generating, updating and maintaining patients' medical records, in accordance with state, regulatory and hospital policies, procedures, and regulations and performs all duties related to the patient registration process. The role is designed to provide flexible coverage in the Admissions and HIMS departments and is focused on patient satisfaction while performing the essential functions of both areas in the hospital.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • EXHIBITS EXEMPLARY CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS IN ALL AREAS OF PERFORMANCE: Demonstrates flexibility in work assignments to best meet patient needs. Greets patients and family, and responds to their questions and concerns in a timely and engaging manner. Acts as a resource for all patients, co-workers, and visitors who contact the Admissions and HIMS departments. Learns and demonstrates the 5
  • Organizational knowledge: Works effectively within and between departments Participates on inter-departmental teams and committees, communicating unit knowledge as appropriate. Provides department/unit with information and knowledge acquired during participation with interdepartmental teams and committees. Demonstrates a constructive approach during all interactions with staff, supervisors, and managers both inside and outside the unit.

Minimum Qualifications
Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required

Experience

  • 1-2 years Data entry experience in a healthcare environment. required and
  • 1-2 years 2 years experience in a customer focused environment required and
  • Internal candidates must pass position competencies required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • BASIC COMPUTER SKILLS AND ACCURATE DATA ENTRY
  • ABILITY TO READ, WRITE AND COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY IN ENGLISH
  • KNOWLEDGE OF HIPAA REGULATIONS ON RELEASE OF INFORMATION
  • MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY- PREFERRED
  • MICROSOFT OFFICE - PREFERRED
