Job Description Provide quality patient safety monitoring services under supervision of a licensed professional. Proactively maintain a safe environment for the patient by providing 1:1 continuous monitoring/reliable video monitoring and reporting potential unsafe and harmful behaviors.

Education
High School diploma or equivalent
Certification Summary
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills
Must be able to successfully pass the Basic Windows Skill Assessment at 80% or higher rating within 30 days of employment
Job Responsibilities
Maintains a safe environment for the patient through 1:1 continuous monitoring that includes remaining within arm’s length and facing the patient at all times, including during bathroom and shower activities.
Complies with all related policies requiring a patient safety sitter role (i.e., suicide policy, restraint policies).
May perform/document components of safety monitoring and general care needs (eating, hydration, and/or elimination).
Performs reliable video monitoring in areas that video monitoring is available and/or performed.
Communicates and interacts with patients and family in a therapeutic and respectful manner, with intent to minimize escalation of behaviors.
Monitors for behavior changes and escalates any untoward events (i.e., behavior changes, violent behavior) to appropriate staff, and responds appropriately to direction given by healthcare team members.
Accompanies patient to medical procedures to maintain 1:1 continuous monitoring requirement.
Accurately documents data collected and behaviors observed on assigned patient in EMR, according to establish time frames.
Participates in transfer of care (patient safety sitter to patient safety sitter, patient safety sitter to nurse, patient safety sitter to other care team members); communicates any special considers, care priorities, and support needs as appropriate.
Maintains patients' rights, including the privacy and security of all confidential and protected health information.
