Backend Engineer, Creator Experience

We’re continuing to invest heavily in building the best creator tools with the best team in the creator economy, and are looking for a Backend Engineer to support our mission.

This role is based in New York and open to those who are able to be in-office 2 days per week on a hybrid work model.

About the Role

• Build products that maximize the reach and ROI of Patreon creators

• Engineer tools and products with high craft that maximize simplicity and power

• Synthesize feedback from user research, interviews, market insights and trends to build components that solve our users’ most immediate problems

• Employ an iterative approach to development with a focus on shipping evolutionary releases that culminate in revolutionary products

• Work hand in hand with cross-functional partners to refine and deliver new features

• Contribute to company-wide efforts to refine our front-end tech stack 

About You

• 3+ years of experience in backend software development

• Demonstrated skill using Python, PHP, Java or a similar general purpose language

• Understanding of web servers, API design frameworks, and data modeling

• Excellent communication skills to facilitate requirements gathering, decision-making, and knowledge sharing.

• Holds a high standard of quality and craft with an eye for quality solutions and engineering detail

• A track record of building systems with high reliability, and high throughput

• Penchant for solving complex requirements with elegant and simple solutions

• Enthusiastic about building for creators
