PeopleCert is looking for a Product Manager to be responsible for the development and the lifecycle management of a range of preparation products to support the LanguageCert tests. More precisely, being the voice of the customer, ensuring that any new product or product improvements deliver both value to the customer and drive a return for the business.
As an Accounting Assistant your tasks will include the following:
- Work closely with the line manager to develop strategic product plans, so that they able to deliver profitable long-term growth in line with the businessā strategy plans for growth and profit targets
- Manage a range of products for specific markets/segments, liaising with key stakeholders to identify ways to support test-takers and increase test volumes.
- Commission and launch successful new products, services, new editions or a roadmap of improvements to both support test sales and generate revenue from support products.
- Conceptualise products and develop product roadmaps that demonstrably meet customer needs by:
- Using a range of customer research techniques including quantitative, qualitative, observational, etc. to gain deep insights into customer goals and pain points;
- Turning insights into product features that deliver tangible customer benefits;
- Testing new product ideas and developments at each stage to ensure they meet customer needs appropriately;
- Tracking results post-launch to ensure customer value has been delivered.
- Build and maintain a detailed understanding of the competitive market environment in which the products you are responsible for operate; ensuring that they maintain a competitive edge in that environment:
- Understanding and monitoring trends in relevant global markets;
- Analysing competitor profiles, products, pricing and marketing / sales strategies.
- Work with authors and consultants to create market-focused preparation products to schedule and budget
- Conceptualising products and creating clear products specification documents
- Briefing and motivating of authors, and quality control of their delivered content;
- Tracking schedule and budget throughout product development and taking action as appropriate;
- Providing an excellent level of customer service to external contacts;
- Building new relationships with influential and diverse experts as partners, advisers and authors.
- To be responsible for the delivery and launch of specific products (new and ongoing developments):
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensuring projects are launched on time, budget and to highest quality and ultimately meet identified customer needs;
- Define the market and strategic fit of the product and communicate it internally;
- Communicate with the sales and marketing team to ensure customer-focused features and benefits are clearly communicated and marketing activities are effective;
- Act as the āproduct championā and giving a high level of product support to the sales and customer service teams and directly to customers.
- To monitor sales, usage and other relevant analytics of specific products and recommend action as required.
- To be part of the Global Product team and contribute to the wider strategy and development of the product portfolio.
What we look for:
- Bachelorās degree
- CELTA (or other Teaching of English Language certification)
A Product Management qualification is desirable - Experience of teaching English as a foreign language
- At least 5 yearsā experience of developing ELT products (including digital), preferably within the area of exam preparation
- An understanding of Product Management approach, tools and techniques
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems and content authoring tools desirable
- Experience conducting market/ customer research and applying findings to product development
- Translating customer insights and feedback into product developments in a commercial context
- Managing projects effectively including setting and managing budgets and schedules
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience of leading a project and collaborating with cross-functional team members to drive the best result
- Experience of commissioning ELT products is desirable
- Experience of mapping user journeys and actively contributing to UX is desirable

Working on Home Office (HO) Secure English Language Tests (SELTs)
Any person who is engaged by PeopleCert to work on the SELT service must undergo a Background Check (the results of which must be acceptable to PeopleCert and the HO) prior to commencing their SELT duties. All SELT personnel will be required to complete a declaration (provided by PeopleCert) where the existence of any criminal record and/or bankruptcy must be declared.
If working on the SELT service in the UK, background checks will include:
- A basic or enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check
- Right to Work in the UK check (including nationality, identity and place of residence)
- HO security check (Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) or Counter Terrorist Check (CTC)
- Financial background check
- Employment reference check.
- If working on the SELT service anywhere in the world (outside of the UK) personnel will undergo background checks that are equivalent to those stated for the UK.
In addition, if personnel are required to speak to SELT candidates they must be appropriately skilled in English language and, where SELT services are provided anywhere in the world (outside of the UK), the official language of the relevant country.
