Serves patients by preparing medications; giving pharmacological information to multidisciplinary health care teams. Monitors patient drug therapies under the close and very direct preceptor oversight and supervision of the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC)/Preceptor.
Duties
1. Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders; weighing, measuring and mixing ngredients; detects therapeutic incompatibilities.
2. Dispenses medication by planning, implementing or maintaining procedures for mixing, packaging, or labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements to ensure quality, security and proper disposal under the direct preceptor oversight and supervision of the PIC/Preceptor.
3. Assess the identity, strength or purity of medications.
4. Develops staffs pharmacological knowledge by participating in clinical programs; training with PIC/Preceptor.
5. Complies with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the State Board of Pharmacy, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Food and Drug Administration.
6. Protects patients and technicians by adhering to infection-control protocols.
7. Meets Expectations of Excellence for position.
8. Supports campuses, departmental goals and the overall objectives of the Company.
9. Complies with all laws, regulations and standards of ethical conduct.
10. Performs all job duties with a friendly positive and team-oriented approach.
11. Maintains required licenses or certifications in good standing with the State.
