Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Principal Product Manager to lead the development of the Management Console for TiDB’s self-managed deployments. In this role, you will play a critical part in harmonizing the user interface across TiDB’s self-managed and cloud offerings, ensuring a consistent and seamless experience for users. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, and customer success, to drive the product roadmap and deliver a console that aligns with the TiDB Cloud interface. This console will empower database administrators to efficiently manage, monitor, and optimize their TiDB instances, whether in self-managed or cloud environments.
Responsibilities- Strategic Product Leadership: Define and execute a comprehensive product strategy for the TiDB Management Console, focusing on usability, performance, and feature richness.
- User Experience Harmonization: Ensure that the Management Console aligns closely with the TiDB Cloud interface wherever possible, creating a unified and intuitive experience across platforms that supports seamless transitions between self-managed and cloud environments.
- Feature Prioritization and Innovation: Identify and prioritize features that simplify cluster management, including monitoring, alerting, performance tuning, and scaling capabilities.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with engineering to define technical requirements, establish timelines, and oversee the delivery of console features.
- Customer Feedback Integration: Gather and analyze customer feedback to inform product enhancements that align with user needs, improve productivity, and reduce operational complexity.
- Security and Reliability Focus: Maintain a strong emphasis on security, reliability, and ease of integration with other database management tools.
Qualifications- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or Master’s in a technical field is a plus.
- Professional Experience: 10+ years of product management experience in enterprise software, database management, or cloud infrastructure.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of database systems, distributed systems, and the needs of database administrators.
- Product Development Expertise: Proven experience managing product roadmaps, defining requirements, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Communication Skills: Excellent ability to translate technical details into customer-focused product features.
- Management Console Development: Experience in building management consoles and contributing to open-source development projects.
- Enterprise Offering Development: Demonstrated experience in developing differentiated enterprise, and licensed offerings while remaining true to open-source values.
$160,000 - $230,000 a year
The annual anticipated base salary range for U.S. candidates for this role is USD 160K to $230K. Four zones are applied with different levels of the pay range. More details of the Geo Differential Pay Policy will be discussed during the HR conversation. The actual individual base pay will depend on various factors such as the complexity and responsibility of the role, work locations, job levels, and relevant experience and skills. This role is also eligible to participate in PingCAP's Bonus and Equity Plan, as well as our Sales Compensation Plan if it is a sales role. In order to comply with local legislation and provide greater transparency to candidates, we share base salary ranges on all US job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Please note that actual salaries may vary and fall outside of this range depending on factors such as a candidate's qualifications, geographic location, skills, experience, and competencies. Other benefits include health insurance, flexible vacation time, paid holidays, and parental leave. Salaries for candidates outside the U.S. will vary based on local compensation structures.
