About the Role:


Plume is looking for a Web UI Designer for a 6-month contract. You will create intuitive, engaging user interfaces for Plume’s public-facing marketing website. The scope of work and site content will be based on the targeted needs of our Growth & Marketing team, focusing on improving web traffic purchase conversion. This role requires strong responsive web and mobile UI design skills, a proven ability to deliver iterative UI improvements quickly, and the technical chops to work directly with front-end engineers on realistic implementations.


Your ability to develop solutions that address user needs, grow our customer base, and achieve efficient scaling will be key.

Responsibilities:
  • Create polished, high-fidelity web interfaces and UI components adhering to the Plume Design System
  • Deliver multiple UI designs for competitive experimentation and evaluation quickly and  meeting all deadlines
  • Work with stakeholders to identify & refine requirements
  • Review implemented changes to ensure fidelity to design and resolve any discrepancies
  • Design with performance in mind, optimizing assets and layouts to ensure fast page load times and responsiveness.
  • Conduct design reviews with stakeholders  
  • Ensure consistent user experience across mobile and web surfaces
  • Leverage a human-centered design process to deliver an easy-to-use user interface and user experience
  • Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows, and sitemaps
  • Create UI wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mock-ups to illustrate ideas clearly
  • Create and maintain documentation of all design choices, decisions, & changes
  • Adhere to the project timeline and deliverables schedule, meeting deadlines for each phase of the design updates


Must-Have:
  • A strong understanding and appreciation for the trans experience.
  • 5+ years of professional web UI design experience with a strong portfolio demonstrating a track record of shipping successful web experiences
  • Experience with responsive and mobile-first design principles
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and how to design for inclusivity
  • Basic understanding of SEO principles and how design impacts website performance
  • Expert knowledge of design tools such as Figma as well as wireframing tools such as Balsamiq, Sketch, or Zeplin
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and familiarity with JavaScript and/or TypeScript for effective collaboration with engineers
  • Strong understanding of typography, color theory, layout, and UI design principles
  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to and expand upon existing style guides and brand standards
  • Experience with usability testing and iterative design processes
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines
  • Bachelor's degree in Web Design, Interaction Design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience


Nice to Have:
  • A Masters Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Design, or a related field
  • Previous experience working with the LGBTQIA+ community


Requirements
  • Available to start by January 13th, 2025 for 6 months of contract work
  • Available for a minimum of 30 hours per week, with at least 25 hours scheduled during Pacific Time Zone hours


Compensation:
  • $60.00 USD per hour
