Primary Purpose
This role provides support for political reporting and compliance initiatives. Engages with subject matter experts for political contributions control development and process administration. Assists with Lobbying Activity Tracking System (LATS) training development and tracking in the company's Learning Management System (LMS) to ensure continued compliance with company policies and political reporting requirements. Partner with SMEs to prioritize opportunities and propose enhancements to improve systems or processes to increase operational effectiveness.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains one or more political reporting and compliance standards and controls.
- Maintains repository of political reporting and compliance controls for Sempra and its Affiliates.
- Supports development of strategic political reporting initiatives.
- Monitors implementation and adherence to political reporting rules and controls.
- Identifies political reporting risks and supports mitigation efforts.
- Assists with gap analysis to comply with political reporting laws.
- Represents political reporting and compliance interests and supports collaborative efforts on frameworks and policies matters by collaborating with Sempra and its Affiliates to find solutions.
- Support development and management LATS training. Supports awareness of political reporting and compliance requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Criminal Justice, Finance, Law or related, required.
Experience
- 3+ years of experience in compliance, auditing, and/or regulatory positions.
- 3+ years of experience in regulatory, law and/or public policy.
- Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.
- We offer a hybrid work environment. Although the schedule may vary, typically this will allow you to work from the office three days per week and work remotely on the remaining workdays.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to apply risk and compliance principles.
- Working knowledge of risk mitigation.
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly to a wide variety of audiences.
- Ability to effectively understand business requirements and translate into queries and reports.
- Strong internal customer focus required.
- Proficient in business computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite, spreadsheets, SAP, and internet (research).
- Experience with City, County, State, and Federal laws with political reporting.
- Must possess the ability to review complex problems and issues and provide solutions that satisfy all stakeholders, internal and external.
- Must have the ability to work cross-functionally with many different groups of people.
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks and practical business applications.
- Must be a self-starter who is able to function well individually and as part of a team.
