Argonne National Laboratory Leadership Computing Facility invites outstanding candidates to apply for the Post-Bachelor Appointment in Scientific Computing. The appointment is for three months and can be renewed.
This appointment is intended to encourage scientists actively engaged in state-of-the-art research in Artificial Intelligent for Science. Candidates must have received a recent Bachelors prior to beginning the appointment.
The Leadership Computing Facility at Argonne National Laboratory seeks well-prepared candidates for a post-bachelor position in scientific computing. The successful candidate will be performing research in evaluation of novel AI architectures for science and understand their efficacy for scientific machine learning. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to use advanced AI accelerators deployed as part of the ALCF AI testbed (
https://www.alcf.anl.gov/alcf-ai-testbed
) at the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility.
Position Requirements
B.S. in computational science, mathematics, statistics, physical sciences, engineering or a related discipline (completed in the last 3 years or soon to be completed)
Knowledge of computer science, computer engineering or a related field or knowledge of numerical methods and computational mathematics or computational statistics; considerable knowledge of the programming in python and use of deep learning frameworks
Collaborative skills, including the ability to work well with scientists at other laboratories and universities.
Experience in computer management, instrumentation and digital communications networking, and data acquisition/ processing programming experience in FORTRAN, C, Python, and UNIX/LINUX
Strong numerical programming ability in C++, and significant exposure to GPU programming
Interest in research for machine learning, computer science, and/or mathetmatical optimization and Programming experience in Tensorflow, Pytorch, JAX/Flax
Effective written and oral communication skills
