Are you passionate about the future of sustainable energy and the role that power distribution plays in ensuring a reliable and efficient energy grid? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you as a Power Distribution Operations Engineer.
As a Power Distribution Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing solutions to optimize the operation of our power distribution network. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including groups; grid operations, project management, IT and other engineering groups, to identify areas for improvement and develop and implement strategies to increase reliability, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, from developing innovative distribution network designs to coordinating with crews and other operations personnel to troubleshoot and operate the electric power distribution system to meet power demands, increase reliability, and implement resilient strategies. You will also be responsible for analyzing data and identifying trends and patterns to inform your decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
To be successful in this role, you will need a strong background in electrical engineering and power distribution operations, as well as experience in process optimization, data analysis, and project management. You should also be a strong communicator and collaborator, able to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders and build strong relationships across teams.

Responsibilities

Coordinates with crews and other field operations personnel to troubleshoot and operate the electric power distribution system to meet power demands increasing reliability and implementing resilient strategies.

Performs system analyses and provides real-time engineering support to ensure reliable operation of distribution systems.

Provides distribution engineering support for capital and maintenance activities.
-
Recommends improvements associated with design and construction of overhead and underground distribution facilities, standards, operations, materials, and new technology.

Operates and maintains facilities with emphasis on high reliability and quality of service.
-
Supports field operations, customer account management, OPUC liaisons, planning and key stakeholder groups.
-
Develops applied professional engineering knowledge of distribution design and construction standards of tools, materials, techniques, codes, regulations and company procedures through assignments in support of complex projects.

Contributes engineering analyses to planning and response efforts for system outages; works with line crews to solve routine field problems; reviews outage reports daily for accuracy and develops solutions to mitigate similar future outages for straightforward issues.

Assists senior engineers by completing activities to maintain distribution facilities and providing information and analysis for distribution maintenance and system-hardening programs/projects.

Serves as a liaison to external customers; provides job status updates, requests additional design information, investigates outages and power quality issues, follows up on customer technical questions and provides information to Distribution Planning.

Displays professional and clear communication with customers, both verbal and written.
Qualifications:
Required

Education: Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering. ABET-accredited engineering program or program accredited by an equivalent agency preferred.

Experience:

Principal DOE: Eight or more years in engineering.

Senior DOE: Five or more years in engineering, or four or more years in a related field with PE license.

Certifications: Professional Engineering (PE) license strongly preferred; maybe required based upon role.
