Premise Technician

Premise Technician – Up to $24.00 per hour

altafiber is now hiring Premise Technicians. Experience in a related field is a plus, but not necessary. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic and be reliable. If currently working in the trades or as a laborer this position may be for you. Starting pay is up to $24/hr as well as overtime pay opportunities.

Essential Functions

Installs/repairs video, internet, and voice services at customer homes.
Install and maintain wiring in the central office, DLC, cross connections in the loop environment and on the customer premise
Tests functionality and isolates problems using various test sets and deductive reasoning
Explains products and services to customers, works to resolve customer understanding of products and services, anduses customer contact opportunities to sell products and services
Uses various hand tools and power equipment to install and make repairs to outside plant systems
Interfaces with customers in the resolution of customer installation and repair issues
Interfaces with call center technicians to resolve customer installation and repair problems
Climbs poles
Drives company vehicle
Responsible for the installation and repair of inside wiring and jacks, including CAT5
Responsible for installation and repair of wired and wireless networking
Responsible for installation and repair of fiber to the home services

Requirements:

0-3 years work experience
High School diploma/GED or Equivalent Work Experience
Driver's License
Ability to perceive differences in wire color
Physical requirements: able to lift up to 85 pounds
Pass agility test

Work Environment:

Performs work both inside and outside in all kinds of weather and conditions
Works in various building and surroundings, i.e., attics, basements, offices
Interacts with customers on a daily basis
Works independently with minimal supervision
May work for long periods of time in confined areas such as crawl spaces
May work aloft on poles, hydraulic lift bucket or ladders
May work 8-hour or 10-hour tours - including non-traditional tours
May work: day, evening, night, or weekend tours, overtime, emergency callouts, weekends, and holidays required
