Now hiring a Medical Interpreter II-Spanish or DineUnder general supervision, interprets over the phone or video from a call center setting or home, and in person for PHS staff, providers, and for limited English proficient patients and their families requiring language assistance. Interpreters follow policies & procedures including the ethical codes that protect the confidentiality of information. Accurately interprets both the content and the spirit of the communication without adding, omitting, editing, or changing the information. Interpreter will seek clarification as needed. From Information Technology to Food Services and beyond, our non-clinical employees make a meaningful impact on the healthcare provided to our patients and members.Why Join Us• Full Time - Exempt: No• Job is based Rev Hugh Cooper Admin Center• Work hours: Weekday Schedule Monday-Friday• Benefits: We offer a wide range of benefits including medical, wellness program, vision, dental, paid time off, retirement and more for FT employees.• Support the program daily operations.• Serves as a role model and mentors fellow interpreters.• Coordinate and complete written translation projects as assigned.• Assists delivering medical interpreter training, program expansion training, and interpreter evaluations as assigned.• Interacts effectively with peers, medical staff, patients and their family members, community groups, and other healthcare consumers in a manner that positively promotes patient centered care values.• Serves as a cultural and linguistic resource with the goal of promoting patient safety, patient satisfaction, and positive treatment outcomes; work appropriately within interpreter roles (e.g., communication conduit, clarifier, cultural broker, and/or patient advocate).• Ensures effective communication takes place by faithfully interpreting both the content and the spirit of the information, in the intended tone and manner, accurately, without adding or omitting information, promoting transparent communication, and seeking clarification, as needed.• Communicates and distribute program information in targeted languages to Limited English Proficient (LEP) persons, maintain daily logs, complete timely electronic interpreter encounter documentation, support and track primary patient language trends and interpreter needs.• Reports risk and patient safety concerns to team leaders and manager in a timely manner.• Supports the Language Access office operations by answering phone linguistic requests, coordinating appropriate interpreter assignments, calling agencies, providers, and clinic requestors to confirm interpreter assignments and/or scheduling requests, and document interpreter encounters in the Electronic Medical Record system.• Practices interpretations in a manner complying with the Medical Interpreter Code of Ethics.• Works under pressure and remains calm and polite in difficult provider/patient situations.• Excellent phone etiquette, and timeliness in routinely responding to interpretation requests within the department expectations as established by management.• Identifies and addresses learning needs through in-service attendance, reading and other education opportunities.• Maintain punctuality and availability during scheduled work hours.• Maintains acceptable productivity and quality standards as established by management to ensure effective and efficient operations.• Performs other related job duties as assigned.• Associates degree required• 3 years of healthcare interpretation experience• Fluency in oral and written English and Spanish or Dine language required.• National certification by the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI) or Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI) for Spanish or CORE or HUB certification for Dine.• Training experience required, medical interpreter training experience, preferred.• Valid NM Drivers license• Operational knowledge of medical interpreter standards of practice and code of ethics
