This position will be onsite in Denver, CO in the Commerce City/RiNo area.

About the Position

We are seeking a versatile Senior Mechatronics Engineer to join our team in Denver, CO. This multifaceted role spans mechanical design, hands-on technical work, manufacturing support, quality assurance, and lab management. The ideal candidate is a technical polymath who thrives wearing multiple hats and working across disciplines. You'll collaborate closely with our Lead Manufacturing Engineer, Lead Robotics Technician, Robotics Engineers, and cross-functional teams in hardware, software, and support. Beyond engineering design, you'll roll up your sleeves for hands-on technician work, quality testing, and managing our robotics lab and demo center. This position offers the opportunity to have broad impact across our organization while working with cutting-edge robotics technology in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Engineering

• Develop electro-mechanical systems and components using SolidWorks for new and existing robotics solutions
• Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to ensure designs are production-ready and cost-effective
• Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and technical documentation with proper GD&T
• Perform engineering analysis, calculations, and simulations to validate designs
• Develop solutions that integrate mechanical, electrical, and control systems
• Troubleshoot complex mechatronic issues and implement effective solutions

Hands-On Technical Work

• Perform skilled technician-level assembly, repair, and modification of robotic systems
• Build, test, and refine prototypes and engineering test fixtures
• Conduct diagnostic testing to identify root causes of system failures
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on robotic equipment
• Calibrate sensors, actuators, and motion control systems
• Execute engineering test plans and document results

Manufacturing Support

• Work closely with the Lead Manufacturing Engineer to improve production processes
• Design jigs, fixtures, and tooling to enhance manufacturing efficiency
• Support process development and documentation for new product introductions
• Assist with vendor selection, component specification, and supply chain management
• Identify opportunities to reduce cost and improve quality through design and process optimization
• Transfer design knowledge to production by training technicians and documenting assembly procedures

Quality Assurance

• Develop and implement testing protocols to ensure product quality and performance
• Create quality verification procedures for mechanical, electrical, and system-level validation
• Analyze test results and performance data to identify improvement opportunities
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for field issues
• Implement measurement systems and procedures to ensure product consistency
• Document quality standards and requirements for internal and external stakeholders

Robotics Lab & Demo Center Management

• Oversee the operations, maintenance, and development of the Denver Robotics Lab
• Manage lab resources, equipment inventory, and procurement of tooling and supplies
• Establish and enforce lab protocols, safety standards, and equipment maintenance procedures
• Configure and maintain robotics systems for demonstration to customers and stakeholders
• Lead technical demonstrations and support customer visits to the demo center
• Train staff on equipment operation and demonstration procedures

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Interface regularly with hardware, software, and support teams to ensure integrated solutions
• Provide technical expertise during customer implementation projects
• Support field service teams with technical troubleshooting and solution development
• Work with product management to translate customer needs into technical requirements
• Contribute to product roadmap discussions and feasibility assessments
• Represent engineering concerns and capabilities in cross-departmental planning

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related technical field; Master's degree preferred
• 7+ years of experience in mechatronics or electro-mechanical systems, with at least 2 years in robotics
• Proven experience in both design engineering and hands-on technical work
• Track record designing products for manufacturing and assembly (DFM/DFA)
• Experience with lab management or technical workspace oversight
• Background in robotics, industrial automation, or similar technology applications

Technical Skills

• Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software
• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and control systems integration
• Experience with GD&T, tolerance analysis, and fit/function requirements
• Practical knowledge of sensors, actuators, motion control, and power systems
• Familiarity with microcontrollers, embedded systems, and basic programming
• Understanding of robot kinematics, dynamics, and control systems
• Hands-on skills with assembly tools, test equipment, and fabrication techniques
• Experience with prototype development, testing, and validation

• Exposure to machine vision, LIDAR, or sensor integration
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles
