About the role:


ION Audio’s Product Manager is responsible for researching, developing, and communicating the brand’s product plan and product details for both new projects as well as updates to existing products. Our Product Managers are responsible for the generation and management of a brand’s product strategy and product line through research and collaboration.


Through hard work, communication, and research, you’ll create new product specifications to ensure brand and product success in the consumer electronics market. You’ll work closely with our Industrial Design team to drive the look and feel of our product line. You’ll also be responsible for interfacing with internal and external teams for both feedback and for championing the success of new and existing products.


What our Product Managers Do:


  • Oversees and implements the design and development of ION branded products at inMusic
  • Cultivating an understanding of the ION brand history and its future potential
  • Researching the competitive marketplace in similar and adjacent categories to understand what constitutes “value” for the consumer
  • Identifying opportunities to solve real world consumer problems and/or create exciting and interactive new experiences through great product
  • Brainstorming new features, design elements, and product ideas based on insights and specific use-cases
  • Developing an understanding of the relative cost associated with all product decisions and managing product costs throughout the process of development to create a product with the right price for the consumer at the cost acceptable to the organization and any retail partners
  • Preparing product design briefs and managing the Industrial Design process through actionable and constructive feedback
  • Writing and continuously editing thorough product engineering specs, including firmware and app UI specs that guide engineering counterparts through your vision for the ideal user experience
  • Conducting sample reviews and sound quality testing, evaluating all aspects of the product based on the most likely end-user experience
  • Proposing product name ideas, product descriptors, product feature callouts that make a great first impression and clearly communicate to the prospective purchaser the benefits of the product and its key features
  • Manages overall product lifecycles
  • Responsible for daily communication with Contract Manufacturers, Project Managers, Industrial Designers, and Engineers, on product design decisions that will affect the consumer experience.
  • Responsible for the creation and presentation of product concepts to internal and external stakeholders, in the form of renderings, sales decks, and sample demonstration
  • Represents the outward face of the brand at trade shows, media events and other related marketing activities.


Requirements


What You’ll Have:


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience, ideally in Design, Marketing, Engineering, or related discipline

  • 3+ years of experience in a product management role with a consumer goods or audio company
  • Creative, problem solving, positive attitude
  • Understanding or experience with a handful of the following disciplines:
  • Basic understanding of business principals regarding scheduling, cost, margins, profit, return on investment
  • Passion for music, product design, and the creative process
  • Detail oriented nature with the ability to handle multiple tasks/projects at the same time
  • Written and verbal communication skills with the ability to confidently present and perform to small and large audiences
  • Proficiency in Powerpoint, Word, Excel, and workflow applications like Asana, Trello, or Redmine
