BillionToOne's first product, UNITY™ is the first and only prenatal screen that directly assesses a baby's risk for common and severe recessive gene disorders such as cystic fibrosis and sickle cell, and chromosomal abnormalities like down syndrome from a single tube of blood from the pregnant mother.

We are looking for a Production Lab Associate to join our growing superstar Clinical Operations team responsible for the processing of pregnancy blood samples in a high complexity CLIA setting. The PLA I is responsible for assisting Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) with the day-to-day operations and sample processing in the Clinical Laboratory. The PLA I will also be responsible for the operating high throughput liquid handlers used in patient testing under CLS supervision, performing quality assurance procedures, and complying with all local, state, and federal laboratory requirements. Hours and days may vary depending upon operational needs. This is an onsite role.

The Production Laboratory Associate (PLA)/Laboratory Technician is an onsite position and is paid $25/hour + generous benefits (see below) + CAREER GROWTH to many positions. Responsibilities:

  • Prepare samples, reagents, and consumables to assist the Clinical Laboratory Scientist during clinical patient testing
  • Operate liquid handlers and other instruments for patient testing under supervision of Clinical Laboratory Scientist
  • Recognizes, documents, and escalates protocol deviations in lab to lead/supervisor
  • Maintain sufficient inventory of material, supplies and equipment in the laboratory for performance of duties
  • Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications
  • Perform equipment maintenance according to laboratory procedures
  • Assist with training of new laboratory personnel and training of new procedures with existing personnel
  • Assist with internal audits and inspection preparation, as needed
  • Write and review controlled documents as assigned
  • Clean racks and other laboratory supplies
  • Manage sample retains inventory

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in biology or clinical related sciences
  • At least 6 months of experience with molecular biology techniques in a research or clinical laboratory
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to multitask and work independently
  • Previous clinical laboratory experience is preferred
  • Ideal candidate would want to become a Clinical Laboratory Scientist

For this position, the base pay is: $25 per hour
