LEONI Fiber Optics, Inc. While addressing the American market, within our Business Unit Fiber Optics, our Williamsburg, VA site is an integral part of a global engineering, sales and operations team with co-workers in Europe allowing for innovative and customer-specific solutions. From Q2 2022, we expect to be trading as Weinert Fiber Optics in consequence of the sale of our business unit by LEONI to a consortium of investors led by Mr. Andreas Weinert, the founder of LEONI Fiber Optics, with a strong interest to sustainably grow our business.


Production Leader

We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual responsible for the management and growth of our manufacturing activities together with our existing team of technicians, team leads, scheduling and efficiency experts. We are running light asset operations for the assembly of both low volume / high mix and high volume / low mix fiber optic patchcords, bundles, and cable assemblies across several floors located in adjacent buildings including an ISO class 8 clean room. The ideal candidate has experience and knowledge running a similar production environment. (Shared-)Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily floor routine: planning of production capacity in terms of personnel and equipment; allocation of technical staff to work-places; regular (daily) tracking of goals such as output, on-time delivery, scrap and non-conformities; trouble shooting and guidance to team leads and technicians; close coordination with our order scheduling team
  • Be responsible for inline quality inspections as well as for work instruction (SOP) compliance
  • Support production-related HR & training measures: interview and select candidates; onboard new hires; devise, implement and track technicians’ job-related trainings; track technicians’ attendance, perform regular review meetings with direct reports
  • Drive and optimize production efficiency in cooperation with our Lean professionals
  • Drive initiatives to support the optimization of workflows
  • Provide input to production-related capital expenditure planning
  • Coordinate for the production area the resolution of corrective and preventive actions together with the quality team

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, ideally in a technical field, or equivalent work experience
  • >5 years of experience working in a B2B/ industrial products manufacturing position
  • Proven track record of successfully managing a production floor
  • Stong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Self-Motivated and Self-Directed with strong attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Effective time management skills with ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast pace environment
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems and proficient in MS Office
  • Ability to legally work in the United States
