Chemonics International is seeking a Program Associate for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Regional Business Unit (RBU). The MENA RBU portfolio includes current projects in Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia, West Bank/Gaza and Libya; new business in Egypt, Yemen, and Morocco; and covers a wide variety of technical sectors including economic growth, water and energy, democracy and governance, and peace, education, stability, and transition. The Associate is a self-starter with strong communication, interpersonal, and strategic thinking skills who works well on teams. Strong candidates will also bring a strong work ethic and attention to detail and will possess excellent judgement and discretion. This role requires on-site work in our Washington, DC office location as part of our hybrid, flexible work structure.
Position Overview :
The Program Associate provides entry-level support with project administration and completes professional and administrative tasks related to supporting global project(s) implementation while also supporting proposal and new business development efforts.
Responsibilities:
Project Management
Responds to questions from corporate and project offices regarding client policies and regulations
Liaises directly with relevant support departments to ensure project compliance with rules, regulations, and corporate policy, in consultation with program manager or director
Assists with the tracking of project deliverables and reports
Assists with recruitment efforts for expatriate and local staff under supervision of a manager or director, including sourcing candidates, conducting interviews, checking references, and collecting employment documentation
Supports review of monthly project office expenses and draft invoices in consultation with program manager ; completes data entry of monthly project invoicing, sub award and consultant information, timesheets, expense reports, and other types of data as requested
Supports project subaward partnership relationship management
Provides travel support for employees and consultants by gathering relevant travel information, reserving tickets, and seeking necessary travel authorizations and approvals ; l liaises with traveler to collect expense reports and required backup documentation
Assists with fielding and repatriation of employees and consultants by submitting relevant fielding and separation paperwork, updating allowances, and coordinating travel and household effects shipments and repatriation
Supports Project Management Unit ( PMU ) efforts for complete and comprehensive project documentation by saving relevant project documents and approvals to project SharePoint files and facilitating document reviews and file audits as appropriate
Schedules and leads meetings, prepares agenda, and captures notes as appropriate
New Business and Technical Development
Assists proposal teams in specific line roles , including past performance writer, corporate capabilities writer, resume formatting, or other role s as appropriate under supervision
Contributes to technical practice(s) as required by BU and corporate needs and performs other duties as required
Management and Leadership
Participates in internal and external training events to build core competencies for project management in line with donor regulations and Chemonics corporate standards
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Experience with data entry, filing, cataloguing, retrieving, and preserving records preferred
Communicates clearly and concisely in both verbal and written communications; strong cross-culture communication and sensitivity skills
Demonstrated experience multitasking with attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
Demonstrated experience following standard practices and procedures, receiving general instruction and supervision, and contributing to projects and initiatives , whether in an academic or business setting
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
Works independently and as part of a team
Demonstrated resourcefulness in problem - solving and initiative to learn new skills
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Language proficiency for assigned geographic area preferred
Willing ness to travel up to 8 weeks per year

The Salary Range for this position is expected to be: $45,680 - $57,100.
An employee’s pay position will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs.
