Position Summary :

The Project Engineer is responsible for the execution of engineering projects from the initiation phase through project closing. They coordinate all other Engineering Groups (process, instrumentation, controls, design & drafting, and vessels) in performing all tasks required to support the production of the final product. The Project Engineer will manage the project by coordinating all project functions with the customer and all other departments within Enerflex.

Project Initiation

• After project award, work with the Applications Team and manager to understand the background, scope, and budget of the project.
• Identify all customer requirements and incorporate into the execution plan.
• Coordinate technical issues with customer (technical clarification, answer technical comments, deviation requests) and reach consensus.
• Coordinate with the Engineering Team to develop Engineering Deliverables List
• Coordinate with Project Scheduling and the Engineering Team to develop the baseline project schedule.
• Attend internal and external kickoff meetings.
• Responsible for scheduling and leading engineering kickoff meeting
• Coordinate with Engineering team to develop Engineering Execution Plan for project and determine resource requirements.

Project Execution

• Ensure fulfillment of all contractual obligations
• On-time delivery of engineering documents and drawings
• On budget performance of engineering team on an hours-basis
• Organize and lead weekly team meetings for project team.
• Organize and lead Design Reviews, such as HAZOP, HAZID, and Value Engineering Reviews
• Technical point of contact for all client communication and queries
• Ensure proper understanding of the Customer’s technical needs inside Enerflex.
• Coordinate the review and approval of all vendor drawings by Engineering Team
• Provide direction and decisions to the project team as required.
• Lead the project team to proactively anticipate problems, issues, and risk, and determine appropriate mitigation measures.
• Responsible for tracking and reporting on engineering issues, project progress and budget performance
• Control changes on the engineering to prevent scope slip. Define all changes and required schedule and budget impact using the Management of Change system.
• Maintain logs and registers as required for the project (Hold List, Issue Log, RFI Log, etc.)
• Coordinate and support third party engineering as required.
• Interface with all disciplines on a daily basis

Project Fabrication and Closure

• Work with the fabrication group to ensure proper project execution.
• Technical interface with shop personnel for all assigned items
• Follow up on technical issues thru shipment and commissioning as needed.
• Capture Lessons Learned for project to share with team for future projects.

Job Specifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering and/or an equivalent background
• 10 years’ industry related experience.
• Ability to influence the productivity and performance of others not in direct report situation.
• Familiarity with Industry Standards Codes (ASME Section VIII, ANSI B31.3, B31.8, API 520, etc.)
• Familiarity with International codes (IEC, ATEX, and etc.)
• Strong communication skills and ability to effectively interact with internal and external parties verbally and in writing.
• Excellent forward facing customer skills (communicator, explainer, negotiator)
• Strong and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Basic knowledge of the fundamentals required by the equipment used in our products.
• Experience with packaging Gas Processing and Treating Plants
• Solid IT skills
• Fluency in English

Working Conditions

Fast-paced general office environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity. Domestic and international travel is possible on occasion.
