Property Product Analyst / Senior Analyst (Hybrid)

We are seeking strong talent with a passion for insurance analytics to join our growing Product Management organization as part of the Property Center of Excellence. The Product Analyst / Senior Analyst is part of the Regional Product Analytics team, reporting to a Senior Product Analytics Manager. Responsibilities include reviewing and overseeing our homeowners’ results for select states and delivering best in class state analytics that promote profitability and growth.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to interact with a variety of business and process leaders across the American Family Enterprise (Government Affairs, Compliance, IT Leadership, Partner Management, Operations, Claims, etc.) and the broader American Family community.

Who we are:
Our Product Management organization manages all Property products for the American Family enterprise, including Homesite, American Family, Main Street America, and Connect powered by AmFam. We are part of the Property Center of Excellence and are an innovative team delivering best in class analytics to promote growth and profitability for our property products.

We will hire at multiple levels (mid-level to senior analyst/specialist) with the right qualifications, to be assessed through the interview process.

Compensation Minimum:$ 68,200 / year

Compensation Maximum:$ 144,400 / year

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Identify states and property lines of business with profitability issues and recommend appropriate actions to ensure property products are winning in every market, partnering with your state manager on individual state strategy
  • Analyze results on a monthly basis by completing monthly reporting, researching drivers of performance, including support for various deep dive projects, and making recommendations for further analysis or strategic changes
  • Drive improvements and enhancements to existing processes, with an eye on automating to improve process efficiency
  • Lead cross functional projects and partner with manager to outline development needs and capabilities for the organization
  • Stay abreast of competitor actions and regulatory environment to proactively improve the company's competitive position and enhance work product
  • Mentor a few business oriented-actuaries and analysts to grow talent and provide constructive feedback to support their development

Requirements

  • Relevant Experience: Property & Casualty insurance product experience
  • Educational Credentials: A bachelor’s degree and quantitative analytical knowledge is required; a graduate degree and/or CPCU designation is preferred, but not required;
  • Entrepreneurial Mindset: A self-starter who can identify business opportunities, develop a product plan to capitalize on those opportunities, and successfully implement the plan;
  • Structured & Logical Thinking: The ability to identify and define business problems and issues, and develop strategic, analytical, and financial frameworks to conduct analyses;
  • Analytical Rigor: Analyze state performance, identify additional areas of research, and recommend improvements;
  • Powerful Communication: The ability to communicate effectively and succinctly across a variety of media;
  • Mentorship Experience: Experience mentoring junior team members;
  • Team Player: The candidate will need to work well both as part of a team and as a project leader;
  • Software Experience: Knowledge of SQL, SAS, R, Python, Tableau, GCP, and/or other programming/data query/reporting knowledge is preferred, in addition, intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel is required;

The candidate selected for this position will be a creative, out-of-the-box thinker who is intellectually curious with a demonstrated interest in learning. This person will also need to be a self-motivated, high-energy individual who can easily function in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment. He/she must be accustomed to working on multiple tasks in parallel and committed to meeting deadlines, including some with short time frames. This professional must demonstrate strong leadership skills, including the ability to gain credibility with and influence both team members and management.

This position is a hybrid role that involves working a minimum of 10 days per month in the office. We know flexibility is important to our employees and their families, and we will continue to offer flexibility in this flex office/home role. Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service.
  • Demonstrated experience performing, visualizing and articulating complex financial, actuarial or business analysis.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of customer, business industry, insurance, underwriting guidelines and risk concepts in area of expertise.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills to review complex products, and/or lines of business.
  • Demonstrated experience making independent decisions.
  • Demonstrated experience in Agile or Lean innovation methodologies, practices, techniques and tools.
  • Solid knowledge of leveraging customer, market and competitor intelligence.
