Part-Time Research Assistant, Food Science

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Food Science Department is looking to hire a Research Assistant to work in Dr. Yi Zhang’s lab for 6 months on the following items:

 

  • Work with the PI and other graduate students to conduct research projects in the area of food chemistry, such as extraction of components from food materials, food components analysis, preparing reagents, and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Collect, record, and analyze experimental data from research projects. Prepare figures and tables.
  • Assist in ordering research supplies and materials as needed
  • Be involved in day-to-day operations in the lab such as maintaining electronic files of protocols and equipment manuals, and lab waste collection, to support the efficient functioning of lab
  • Additionally, this position will be trained on equipment, techniques, and analysis methods. This position will also be required to obtain Penn State Laboratory safety training via PSU-EHS.
