Public Relations Associate

POSITION SUMMARY
Provide overall PR and social support for BMI’s Creative group in Nashville, working closely with the Senior Director of Media Relations, help to handle publicity for BMI awards shows, music festivals and #1 parties, among other events.

LOCATION
BMI has transitioned back to working in the office on a regular hybrid schedule. At present, most team members are expected in the office three (3) days a week. Decisions regarding future transitions will take place in phases as BMI continues to closely monitor COVID-19 as employee safety is our priority.

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Essential Functions: which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.

  • Provide general PR and Media Relations support for Nashville office, under the direction of Senior Director, Media Relations.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with local & national press outlets/industry publications to help maximize press coverage for Nashville Creative group.
  • Responsible for idea generation, research and pitching for Nashville office’s local showcases, music festivals and events to generate proactive press coverage.
  • Lead media, artist scheduling, site selection, stage set-up and press coordination for #1 parties under the direction of the Senior Director, Media Relations.
  • Partner with social media team in New York, and under their direction, helps coordinate all social media events out of Nashville and festival stages; creating releases, set-up of Instagram takeovers, Instagram live interviews, and executes against plan.
  • Support all Nashville office events by helping direct photos, selecting visual content to be used online and writing captions/recaps for distribution to industry publications.
  • Maintain press contacts and update press lists for local and national press release distribution.
  • Serve as backup support to New York Corporate Communications as needed, including daily clips compilation.
  • Work collaboratively with BMI’s Corporate Communications department on idea generation and overall PR support.
  • Regular attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred. (Preferably in Journalism or Public Relations) - This is unchanged from original
Experience: Minimum two (2) years’ related experience.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management, analytical, decision making and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize work on multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong social media experience on a variety of platforms, including Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
  • Creative and strategic thinker with collaborative and flexible approach.
  • Proactive and enthusiastic.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft PowerPoint and Outlook.

SALARY RANGE
The specific base salary offered to a successful applicant will be based on individual qualifications, skills, experience, and education. The pay range is subject to change at any time based on various internal and external factors. The position may also be eligible for one or more performance-based bonuses.
