Under supervision, is responsible for providing safety and security to all members of the college community, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures by being observant, reporting problems, protecting the community and its property, and preventing incidents through proper planning and utilization of resources.
**This is a non-sworn, unarmed position. The hourly rate for Day and Swing shifts is $21.00 and for the Graveyard shift is $22.64. These rates are non-negotiable as this is the set budget for these positions.**
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Customer Service/Compliance - 35%
- Enforces compliance with policies and procedures as stated in the Staff Handbook and Public Safety Policy and Procedure Addendum.

Responds to service calls and answers phone and walk-in requests for service.

Writes and maintains detailed reports including incident, injury, daily activity, and sign-in, recording data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment.

Checks identification to ensure only authorized personnel are allowed access and observes departing personnel protecting against theft of property.

Monitors safety and identifies and communicates threats and risk factors.
ID and Access System Function - 20%
- Processes ID and access cards and assists in maintaining records of outgoing cards and current supply inventory to ensure proper function of the system and to protect against loss or damage through misuse or malfeasance.
Patrol Function - 45%

Monitors the property and periodically patrols the buildings and grounds, examining doors, windows, and gates to determine serviceability and that all is secure per order.

Reports irregularities such as fire hazards or utility issues and follows procedures for responding to fire, emergency, disaster or criminal activity.

Documents violators of rule infractions, such as trespassing, drinking, or excessive noise and detains or expels non-CCA persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.

Provides Safety escorts for members of the college community within a specified distance.
MINIMIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Read, write and speak fluent English; reasonably interpret and apply policies and procedures to dynamic situations. Follow written and verbal directions, complete tasks correctly and on time; identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; react well under pressure and to use reason, even when dealing with difficult or emotional situations.
- First aid or CPR training, professional security certifications and foreign language skills are desirable. Previous experience as public safety officer or security guard in an academic or professional environment is preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS: This position entails shift work that might be daytime, evening or weekend work. This position works outdoors.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires ability to standing and walk for extended periods of time.

The range for for this position is $21.00 - $22.64 per hour.

CCA considers a full-time work week to be 37.5 hours per week. Public Safety works a 40 hour work week.

Work Mode: On campus
Please note that in an effort to keep the CCA community safe, the College requires all staff, faculty, and students who are on campus to be fully vaccinated, including to have received a booster shot (if eligible). The job responsibilities of this position will require time regularly spent on campus, and therefore the incumbent will be asked to follow the CCA vaccination requirement, unless an exemption is approved.
