About our Team

The Economics journals’ team consists of 3 publishers in Oxford (UK), 1 in London (UK), 1 in Amsterdam (NL) and 1 each in Shanghai and Beijing (CN). This Economics Publisher role can be based in the Philadelphia/Cambridge MA/New York offices. Please note you must already have a permit to work in these locations.

About the Role

You will manage and develop a portfolio of journals within Economics, predominantly Accounting. The list is made up of 19 high quality international titles with a mixture of society owned and proprietary journals. The Publisher has full responsibility for these titles and determines the strategy for the future growth and development of this list.

Responsibilities

Developing the strategy for the portfolio; ensure alignment with the departments and wider organization’s strategies.
Working with editors, authors, editorial boards and the academic community to ensure sufficient copy flow of relevant, high-quality manuscripts.
Negotiating and manage contractual relationships with journal editors.
Maintaining the existing portfolio, matching developments in the external marketplace, including the development of Open Access initiatives.
Monitoring and quality control of all aspects of day-to-day editorial, production and publishing operations and effectively address improvements where required.
Meeting portfolio objectives regarding content growth, articles market share, citation share, relative impact factor, editorial speeds, author and editor satisfaction
Managing the editorial fees budget and provide input to pricing processes.

Requirements

Have an extended educational background and keen interest in academic publishing.
Show experience within an Academia or Research environment.
Be a natural communicator with an ability to engage and influence cross-functional teams and external teams
Show the ability to be a self-starter and able to adapt and flex to changing to priorities
Enjoy collaborating with cross-functional and publishing teams and to deliver successful initiatives
Be able to build relationships with stakeholders, teams and our community
Be able to identify and understand market needs for potential business opportunities
Have an entrepreneurial spirit and enjoy discovering new technologies and on-line developments

The salary range provided in this posting is the base salary range for NYC.Base Salary Range: 77,300.00USD - 129,000.00USD
