Manager, Raw Materials

POSITION SUMMARY:

Individual will manage sourcing and development of fabrics with appropriate aesthetic and costs for brand, adhering to quality and speed, while maintaining all deadlines. And will also support in the creation and maintenance of the fabric resource library to research seasonal inspiration as well as an archive of Calvin Klein seasonal production fabrics. In addition to maintaining the brand fabric databases that is easily navigated by all functional areas.

The Raw Material Manager is responsible for managing the overall process of executing new and seasonal fabrics that meet designer's aesthetic vision while balancing quality, cost and speed.

They will maintain and develop a supply chain that supports the overarching strategic vision.

Collaborating with mills, US Raw Material team, Supply Chain Partners, Design and Merchandising.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES

Fabric Development and Sourcing:

  • Work closely with the Design team on Special Projects & CK Studio
  • Support the Research of fabrics by working closely with the Mill’s and suppliers.
  • Owns communication with mills and suppliers, Hubs and US Raw Material teams.
  • Manages new fabric developments within the mill matrix strategy & brand aesthetic and sustainability goals.
  • Maintain & accurately update the Fabric detail sheets, Scope Certificates in the centric system as required and completed within specified deadlines.
  • Responsible for tracking sample yardage to ensure on-time garment deliveries for proto samples.
  • Manages all fabric testing and Risk assessments. And ensures that all fabrics meet the PVH GQM testing requirements and Global regulatory GB testing.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to resolve business challenges in accordance with the seasonal development calendars, ensuring adherence to cost, speed and quality.
  • Visit mills to discuss price, quality and capacity as required for merchant & NY RM & Supply
  • Support industry trends through research. Attend global shows as appropriate. Manage process of communicating trend and research. Understand how the trend works and opportunities for marketing claims.
  • Identify gaps, propose ideas to close gaps and work with mills to elevate.
  • Partner with mill on solutions to drive to the shortest lead times while balancing cost and quality.

Quality:

  • Oversee fabric testing and ensure mills meet the PVH GQM and GB Regulatory testing Requirements. Communicate as needed to QA to ensure final garment quality.
  • Utilize technical expertise in collaboration with the mill to meet quality expectations. Proactively resolve quality issues

Process:

  • Proactively monitor and meet calendar deadlines for approvals and mill execution. Ensure capacity to meet deadlines and manage resources as needed.
  • Review and manage the process by analyzing metrics to determine effectiveness of current process. Surface ideas for improvement and identify any risks.

Leadership:

  • Provide Inspirational leadership to direct reports.
  • Work with direct reports to establish their goals.
  • Mentor and coach direct reports on performance expectations.
  • Influence peers and seek support from Director if difficulty in influencing upward.
  • Perform technician roles if no technician within country.
  • Provide cross functional support as identified by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Education & Experience:

  • Degree in Textile or related subject with 5-7 years or above relevant industry experience

Skills:

  • Knowledge of raw materials, construction, costing, macro-economic trends, and capacity planning. Knowledge of Chemicals
  • Detail oriented and problem solving in approach.
  • Strong organizational skills. Results & solutions driven.
  • Ability to synthesize take complex issues and draw valid actionable fact-based conclusions.
  • Able to drive change, inspire, coach, mentor and develop a high performing team.
  • Able to establish and maintain strong working relationships cross-functionally and cross-divisionally, as well as externally.
  • Ability to know when to direct teams in a leadership capacity and when to take a hands-on approach in order to deliver timely results.
  • Strong negotiating skills in diverse cultural environments
  • Ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Deadline-driven with a strong sense of urgency and accuracy.
  • Computer literate. Knowledge of Web PLM preferred.
  • Good command of both spoken and written English

Pay Range: $90,000 - $115,000
PVH currently provides base salary ranges for all positions-on job advertisements-in the United States based on local requirements. These ranges are based on what PVH reasonably believes that it will pay an associate for their base salary for said position at the time of the posting. Individual compensation will ultimately be determined based on a variety of relevant factors including but-not limited to qualifications, geographic location and other relevant skills.
