Hood Container Corporation (HCC) is seeking a dynamic leader to join our team as a Quality Manager. The Quality Manager role will ensure that all company products and services meet quality standards before they go to market.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

Reports to the Plant Manager.

FLSA STATUS: Exempt (Salary)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures adherence to health and safety guidelines as well as legal obligations.
  • Supervises auditors and other staff and provides guidance and feedback.
  • Implements improvements to production processes that lead to overall increases in product quality
  • Works together with project leaders to discuss solutions to quality issues
  • Understands customer needs, requirements, and expectations to develop effective quality control processes.
  • Satisfies customer expectations about the product's quality.
  • Creates production plans for new products to guarantee quality from stage one.
  • Schedules project plans along with the project team to fit project deadlines
  • Writes detailed reports on design, pre-production, and production to check on the quality status of the product at all stages of production and informs the rest of the production team.
  • Complies with ISO accreditation requirements
  • Audits materials provided by suppliers to assure quality before incorporation into the product.
  • Assesses the product's quality by testing for a range of features and seeing how the product performs under stresses like impact, temperature, humidity, etc.
  • Investigates causes of quality problems and proposing solutions.
  • Trains new Quality Control employees.
  • Utilizes extensive knowledge of the product's inner workings to diagnose problems.
  • Continues education on newly developing Quality Control techniques.
  • Serves as the Quality Management Representative for the site.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience as a Quality Manager within a face-paced production environment. - 3 years of management experience is preferred
  • Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude with a demonstrated ability to motivate and train line personnel.
  • Must possess and demonstrate the ability to make proper decisions based upon documented Work Instructions/Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality required
  • Willingness to work all production shifts and overtime as required.
  • Strong customer service skills required
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to analyze data to spot trends and deficiencies and make suggestions for improvement
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain and document accurate records, logs, and files
  • Ability to work under own initiative
  • Ability to maintain a flexible attitude and meet the needs for changing priorities
  • Experience with continuous improvement and Lean Methodology is a plus.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • Must be able to work in high temperature & humidity conditions while wearing proper PPE including, but not limited to, hearing protection, steel toe shoes and safety glasses.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and / or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

The access to the work environment is ground level.

Personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, safety glasses, earplugs or earmuffs and safety shoes may be required to perform job tasks.

Employment with Hood Container Corporation is voluntarily entered into, and employees are free to resign at will at any time, with or without cause. Similarly, Hood Container Corporation may terminate the employment relationship at will at any time, with or without notice or cause, so long as there is no violation of applicable federal or state law.
