Receptionist
The Receptionist (Security), under general supervision and working in a team environment, serves as a customer-oriented ambassador who applies security policies and procedures while interacting with RAND staff and visitors.
Duties
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the RAND Security Manual
  • Greet vendors, visitors, and staff.
  • Reply to general questions related to access control, visit process, badges, clearances.
  • Processes incoming visitors and visit requests; enters clearance information into the visitor database and/or researches information in the Defense Information System for Security (DISS) or current government system of record and SIMS clearance database; verifies foreign visitor authorization from Security.
  • Issue temporary badges in the access control system (Lenel) in accordance with the clearance level.
  • Issue and maintain 100% accountability of the RAND badges on a daily basis.
  • Issues badges for cleared visitors.
  • Ensure that cleared badges are locked in the security container when the desk is not occupied.
  • Verify clearances in DISS or the current government clearance database of record.
  • Apply exceptional observation skills and detect unusual or suspicious activity.
  • Enforce access control policies and procedures.
  • Perform a variety of security duties.
  • Responsible for the lobby reception area to continuously present a professional image.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organization skills, attention to detail and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in use of computers and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Ability to communicate and interact professionally and courteously both orally and in writing with all levels of employees and guests.
  • Basic PC skills
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality is required.
  • Knowledge and experience in security visitor systems and access control principles and platforms
  • Ability to use diplomacy and tact while engaging with people.
Education
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • BS/BA degree preferred.
Experience
  • At least 3 years relevant experience required.
  • At least 6 years relevant experience preferred.
Security Clearance
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. government security clearance.

Salary Range
$33,700 - $47,900
