Under general supervision, is responsible for assisting the public with warrant information; processing defendants and issuing PR bonds; and performs related duties as required
Duties and Responsibilities
Greets general public in person and over the phone
Obtains personal information from defendants for records section
Checks Criminal Justice Information System for warrants on defendants being processed
Books and releases defendants on Criminal Justice Information System to recall warrant and generate bond number
Researches indictment lists for defendants qualified for processing
Assigns Bexar County Sheriff’s Office numbers and SID numbers
Prepares packets and new Bexar County Sheriff’s Office folders and forwards to Central Records department
Orders and maintains supplies
Prepares monthly report for Security Chief
Assists in mailing out summons for County Courts
Fingerprints and photographs defendants in a relief capacity
Performs related duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from High School or General Education Development (GED) certificate, and two (2) years general office experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Good knowledge of the justice system; knowledge of basic office procedures
Skill in operating a personal computer and basic office equipment; skill in dealing with hostile, abusive or irrational individuals; skill in performing basic mathematical calculations
Ability to operate a fingerprint stand and a camera; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other County employees and the general public
Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.
May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
Working Environment and Physical Demands:
Working conditions are primarily in an office environment
Physical requirements include lifting/carrying 10 lbs. occasionally; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate computer keyboard, basic office equipment, fingerprint stand and a camera. Subject to walking, reaching and handling to perform the essential functions
