Release Train Engineer (Onboarding Experience)

We are looking for a Release Train Engineer who will be responsible for program execution at the program/product level by driving continuous improvement. They manage risks, escalate impediments, foster a learning environment, and facilitates program events like PI planning, Inspect & Adapt and Scrum of Scrums.

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

Coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Safe-Agile practices and mindsets
Manage and optimize the flow of value through the ART using various tools, such as the Program Kanban and other information radiators
Establish and communicate the annual calendars for Iterations and Program Increments (PIs)
Facilitate PI Planning readiness by fostering a Continuous Exploration process which drives the synthesis of a Vision, a Roadmap, and Backlogs, and through Pre- and Post-PI Planning meetings
Encourage collaboration between teams and System Architects/Engineering
Work with Product Management, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment
Collaborate with other Agile Release Train in other departments to coordinate activities/dependencies and remove impediments.
Assists with program execution and PI feature completion tracking
Aggregates team objectives into Program PI Objectives and publishes for visibility and transparency
Establish proper metrics at team and program level
Drives program-level continuous improvement via retrospectives, Inspect and Adapt workshops, and constant demonstration of Better Every Day
Encourages team and program level Quality Practices and Communities of Practice around Agile, Scrum, and Agile program management
Escalates impediments
Facilitates PI planning events
Facilitates ART Sync events (PO Sync and Scrum of Scrums)
Participates in enterprise program management improvement and standardization activities

Qualifications:

Minimum Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree or combination of education and relevant experience or SAFe certification (SSM, Program Consultant or Release Train Engineer).
Experience as a Scrum Master for at least 4 years for a software development team or at least 6+ years of experience in a complex project and program management roles.
Minimum of 2 years of SAFe Release Train Experience or similar Agile coaching role for a software development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, in an Agile environment that scales up to a program or portfolio level
5+ years of agile or SAFe experience

Skills/Abilities:

Servant leader and strong communicator with strong interpersonal skills
Ability to persuade by influence rather than authority
Strong technical aptitude and experience leading teams in delivering quality software
Deep understanding of Scrum, XP, Kanban, Scaled Agile Framework, or other scaling model
